OK, most of you know, I just took posession of my brand NEW 03 MM, which was never sold, never registered, etc.
I wanted to do an oil change ASAP figuring the oil in the engine has been in there since late 02/early 03.
Lifted the car, went to turn the oil drain bolt and [damned ], the bolt was so loose, I could literally turn it by hand! WTF!! Just think if I were'nt so anal and did'nt care to change the oil. Another 100 miles (or less), it would have fallen out! Motor would have seized! Then what!!!
I'm just glad I caught it! :coolman:
Anyone else heard of this, or worse happening? Just curious.

:mad2: Doesn't that burn your butt? Doesn't the dealer have a checklist of things that they have to look at once the vehicle comes off the transporter? I guess the redeeming grace is that at least right now it's all covered under warranty!!

The Oil Plug bolt was installed by a sub supplier to the engine plant. Yours were probably the first human hands to touch it. It is good advice to check critical fastners yourself. Be Sure to check your lug nuts.

Never titled, never registered... wouldn't that be covered under the warranty?

Its normal. When I was doing Innovative Interceptors full time, we used to get CVPIs, Fleet Taurii, Fleet Ford Escapes,Focuses, Expeditions and Ford Explorers, Brand new in for a first oil change at 3000 or 5000 miles. The drain plug usually takes NO effort. It was snug, but not torqued at all. We thought it was odd at first, but apparently this is how its done lately. I dont think we had one Ford Product other than the Power Stroke (International Motor) that had a tight plug from the factory.

Remember at FORD quality is job 1.........

I wonder if Ford would reject a claim after the plug fell out and you rean out of oil. It had to have happen somewhere.

Ya know...
It would have to be covered under warranty,
cause when the oil runs out, you don't have an OIL LIGHT on the dash
to tell you there is no OIL PRESSURE !!!
We don't even have a WORKING GAUGE !!!
