Picked up an 03' Marauder (i suspect a 300A from reading this board). The car was in terrific shape, formerly owned by a cop who traded it for a CTS-V :) The car came with two new rear tires put on by the dealer, and the PO had already tinted all 4 side windows, and never had the front bumber drilled for a plate. I am extremely anal about cars, and the condition of this one was very, very good with 16k on the odo.

I traded in a almost brand new TSX for it (6 months old). I made the mistake of buying a car with my head, not my heart, so i ended up with it. Quick, pleasant, and reliable, but i found myself very frustrated with that thing, and realized i wanted a V8 for a daily driver...and of course the Marauder started occupying my thoughts. This board was a great resource to learn about the MM and realize at the very least i will do a reflash/intake and some exhaust work (seriously thinking about electric cutouts, or at least some mufflers since this car sounds waaaaayyyy to tame stock). I do not intend to do 4.10's since i do want to keep highway performance over standing-start power...

Was a great drive home...even got my first kill off a lowly Lexus ES300. I was afraid to get on it because these things are so slow stock...but figured what the heck :) I am horrified by the fuel economy, the stupid gauge dropped after only putting 25 miles on it! :) They really do move smartly on the highway though, gets up to 100mph pretty well for 4200lb.

My other car is a big turbo'd, rollbar, big brake'd Miata that runs high 12s to low 13s on street gas. It makes ~250rwhp with ~2500lb. The two cars look so...different sitting in the garage together. I really wanted the daily driver to be a big hotrod, and the Marauder is the perfect car to fit that need.

I keep replaying scenes from the Blues Brothers when sitting in this thing...what a thrill...i feel very lucky that i picked one of these up. There are about 10 available in the Chicago area, and the first three i called on were already sold...i think people are starting to look into Marauders.

Cheers,
Sameer

Welcome aboard Lawrider. As many will tell you, you can find out anything you what to know just by asking. Best to use the search engine first to avoid a random flame, although they are relatively rare on this site. Excellent group of folks. Happy Maraudering!

Welcome aboard. I have a 300A I just recently got. Don't be worried about the gas useage. In stock trim I get 25-27 mpg. The gas gauge just doesn't "fibb" like most cars do. On the highway I get about 100 miles per 1/4 tank. If I'm in a long distance cruise.. you know like Vermont to Arizona  I found the gas useage was consistent. I could tell how well I was doing on my gas mileage based on how much over or under 100 miles per 1/4 tank went. And yes... you can get over 400 miles in a tank full.

Not all lawyers....just New York ones.......Tell me about it brother!

One winter in Macon I was comin' up on a bridge, it was 18 degrees, and you know how slick them bridges git when it freezes. Well I be darned if there wasn't a bunch of them New York lawyers settin' on lawnchairs next to the bridge takin' lessons!

Welcome to the bored! For best results stroke Logan. :D

(Get it? Bored. Stroke. I know, I know. "Don't quit yer day job!")

Check the timeslips page if you wanna get revved-up about your "slow" Marauder. I bet you can't get anything this big and comfortable to go 11.5 seconds in the 1/4 for less money.

Thanks again fellas! Real warm place here. Funny how i never registered on a TSX board for the 1/2 year i owned that, but registered here the day i picked up the MM. If anyone cares i am also on Miata.net and Audiworld (used to own a big turbo ~260awhp A4 1.8T Quattro)

Mad Man in particular, i would love to see local MM'ers exhaust setups to decide what I want to do, i can't take the stock exhaust after 2 days with it. I had been agonizing over the various threads here about different setups...the three guys in particular you mentioned, any way to check out their mod lists? Any input as to what sounds great for a daily driver with minimal drone?

Ross - I have not met any kilted cops...i should probably consider myself lucky? :) I deal mostly with Illinois State Police, Will County Sheriff and then most of the southern Chicago local police departments.

I dislike lawyers as well, i get to deal with defense attorneys...very irritating, always trying to get their clients off, rather than let the hammer of justice smash their unworthy clients into submission :D

Cheers,
Sameer

 Yo Lawrider welcome to the MM club. There is a lotta reading to be had here. I've only recently joined myself, but did a lot of browsing before doing so.

Now AZMARAUDER and any others who care to chime in. You are not serious about being able to get "400" miles off of a tank of gas are you:argue: ? I have an 04 DTR birthdate 03/04 and the best i've been able to do is 216 or roughly 14-15 miles to the gallon before the fuel light comes on with 4 gallons left in the tank and thats without "balls to the seat back" driving.
I notice yours is stock as is mine but i only have 1200+ miles on it.
Do 03's get better gas mileage than 04's. Looooove:banana: the car but the gas mileage sucks. How long do i have to wait for the 22-25
