I was driving down the road yesterday, (obeying all local speed limits) and the “check fuel cap” light comes on. I’ve been fiddling with the cap and the light will not go off. Any suggestions? Do I need to take it to the dealer?

I would be safe to take it back. You might have a bad gas cap or air leak in your tank or filler neck somewhere.

Just take it in. The dealer can check it out and turn off the light, too.

From the owner's manual:
"When the fuel filler cap is properly
re-installed, the light(s) will turn off
after a period of normal driving."
Other parts of the manual state that 2 or 3 driving cycles may be required to clear some "check engine" lights, so I wouldn't panic yet...

What RF Said. Check the cap for snugness and any damage to the seal around the cap, more than likely the OBD-II system has detected a small leak in the Evaporative Emissions System, and thats why its throwing that code.
If the code does not go away after a couple of COMPLETE OBD-II drive cycles, you might go into the dealer and have it checked.
Good luck.
