Alright, I've officially put my MM up for sale. You can read about it here on Autotrader:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=177545762&dealer_id=55898455&car_year=2003&search_type=used&make=MERC&transmission=&sponsorModel=&model=MARAUDER&distance=300&address=76155&make2=&advanced=y&certified=&max_mileage=&max_price=&min_price=&end_year=2003&color=&start_year=2003&drive=&isp=y&engine=&body_style=SEDAN&doors=&fuel=&lang=en&cardist=137#vdptop

I owe more on it than I can possibly get for it, but I have got to know what is a reasonable Private Party asking price. Obviously $21,500 is too high. I've just received a phone call from a guy in California, that is offering me $19K....sight unseen. Is that too low? Please give me some good feedback on this guys... I need it! This website prompted me to buy the car, and if ya'll can help me sell it, that would be great. Thanks!

BTW, I am selling the car because I need something that gets much better gas mileage, and that is cheaper. My family & I have just put a contract on a new home in Joshua Texas, and are closing on it on March 10th (Hello neighbor Dan! ) We are finally moving there from Longview Texas!

Counter offer at 20K or accept if you really need to sell now.

Sorry to see that you have to sell your Marauder.

Regards,

David

Would $20K be a reasonable price for the miles I have on it?

Let it sit in Autotrader for a week and see what happens. Then lower the price to $20,500. If no bited see if the California guy will split the difference and settle at $20,000.

I personally found the best place to sell my cars has been through the newspaper (LA Times here). I found that most people viewing Recycler and Autotrader are looking for cheap cars.

Good luck and if you sell it to the guy in California, make sure to give him your rear CATS or it will not pass smog here. He will also get a HUGE fine if he brings it in for smog check and those cats are removed.

I no longer have the rear cats, and I did discuss that with the guy from California. He understands that he will have to deal with that on his own.

My car has been on Autotrader for about 3 weeks now, with next to no interest as of yet. I tried running it in the local DFW papers, but I got terrible results from that! I got about 2 calls a day from other companies that only wanted to promote the posting of my car on their website or magazine. Half the time, they couldn't even pronounce "Marauder" when they called! That was very frustrating. :depress:

 Jeremy,

Sorry you have to sell. It looks very clean and the mileage is not excessive. I paid 23K for mine with 13K miles on it. I agree with the counter-offer of 20K. You will always be one of us..best of luck.

you will always be one of us..

Will you be saying that when he introduces this car to us as a new member of his family?

I traded my MM in Sunday on a new towncar. The MM had 45,000 miles. The dealer sold it in 24 hours for 20,500. The dealer told me that he would give me a good deal on the Towncar because anytime he has a used MM come in it sells fast. Towncars sell slower and I got a great deal on the TC, because effectively the dealer was moving 2 cars not one.

You should be able to easily get 20K for yours.

Jeremy - Sorry the Marauder has to go. :( 20-21K sounds about right. Good luck with the sale.

I think they are made by 'Reynolds" and are a one piece Aluminium. :)

At least when you "chop up the block", you can keep it fresh.

Well, after about 2.5 months of attempting to sell my baby, she finally sold this past Friday. I sold it to a local man in downtown Dallas, and he plans to take just as good of care of it, as I have! I never knew it would be so hard to let go of those keys.....but it sure was. The new buyer even saw this, and asked me if I would like visitation rights!!! LOL!

Hopefully ya'll won't mind me continuing to partake in this board & local events....even though I no longer have a MM. I've made a few friends here, and would really like to remain a part of this great MM family, especially since I now live so much closer to DFW now.
