My MM is in for 5k service. I had a radio problem where all the stations would fade as the car warmed up.

The LM dealer says that the radio needs to be replaced.

They said they ordered the part through a sub-contractor who actually does all the radio work for the dealership.

They also said the sub will call when the part is in, then the dealer will call me to set an appointment to have the radio installed.

Does this seem right?

A dealer that can't replace a radio themselves?

I mean this may be ok, just seemed odd to me.

Yup. My local dealer is like that too. They are distributed from another channel.....

I had the same problem. The tech ordered the radio from the repair shop and then the dealer called when it came in. The tech installed it and when I got in I noticed something was different but could not put my finger on it for a while (they are very similar). I then found that they had installed a Grand Marquis radio instead of the "Premier" system that comes stock in the MM. The biggest difference is that the GM radio does not have a sub woofer connection. The tech had to order another radio and I had to wait another week, but the radio has worked well now for about a year.

When they change your radio, be sure it's the correct one.
