OK,

The most fuel I have ever been able to put into the Beast's belly was 17 gallons.
This was after driving about 50 miles with the "low fuel" light on.
The tank should hold 19.4 gallons if memory serves me correctly, and am wondering if we have one of those tanks that you have to baby in order to fill?

Anyone know how many miles we can go with the low fuel light?

Thanks,

Mike.

When the light comes on, press the trip reset...
Keep driving till the engine stalls.... j/k

When the light comes on you should be less than 2-3 gallons in the tank.

I have also noticed that from 0 - 150 miles, the fuel gauge takes its time to go from F - 1/2.
But for 150 - 200 miles the needle drops from 1/2 like a rock !

16.5 gallons is about the most I've been able to squeeze in.
My guage does the opposite. It drops like a rock from full to half then takes it's time to E. I try to limit my traveling to 20 miles when and if the light ever comes on.
I usually fill at about 1/4 though. :twocents:

I got used to the fact that I could seemingly drive forever in the MM with the low fuel light on. Then one day after driving about 50 miles, the car sputtered and stalled and I found myself on the shoulder walking to the nearest gas station. :o

Luckily it was a warm night in September and I only had to walk a few blocks. The gas station only had 1 gallon fuel containers and suprisingly that was enough to get the car started. After this embarrasing ordeal, I try to fill up as soon as possible whenever I see the light. I don't continue for more than 10-20 miles.

Interesting.....

I'll be taking a road trip to Alaska in a few months. Think I should stop and refuel every chance I get? I think things are pretty spread out on the roads in Canada. Anyone expertise in this vacinity?

Are you driving the Marauder on the ALCAN????? You are crazy, Cor !!! Big open road but a lot of it is egg-sized gravel. It can tear up a car pretty quick.

North of Prince George, and certainly once on the Alcan, I would get a huge rock deflector on the front of your car. You'll likely have to replace your windshield when you get home as well. I think that it is always wise to carry a jerry can of fuel with you when driving in the North.

My low fuel light has never been used either. :D I usually always top it off when I hit the 1/4 point. That way, I am always prepared when that driving and grinning bug strikes.

50 Miles, huh? That's good information; thanks for sharing. Sorry you had to walk, but up this way it could turn into quite a hike. :)

Best not to overfill. The tank is designed to best perform in the event of an impact only filled to it's normal capacity.

The air gap in the tank is important for safety.

Over fill would be repeatedly adding fuel after the pump clicks off until the fuel fills up to the filler neck.

I shut it off after when the pump clicks off the second time.

Well if I had a Marauder, I wouldn't bring it to Alaska at all. I have an LX Sport. Me? Crazy? nah... Well I'm moving there, so I wont be driving back down. I have a Dodge 4x4, but it is not roadtrip worthy. I'm actually shipping the Dodge for free.
Anyhow, I got to looking at a trip someone made a few years ago. They have a website up displaying their travels. They drove an Audi up there without incident. So maybe I can do the same.
