View Full Version : Installed "Cruztaker" Intake
A little while back, Barry posted plans for a do-it-yourself intake which was, quite by coincidence, very similar to a commercially produced intake. I took the plans and made one myself. Took about 3 hours labor, part of that time was painting the intake tube. Simple to make and install, and cost about $30.00 total.
Seems like a little extra SOTP power, but no dyno runs or other objective data. Thanks for the help, Barry.

Is that your first mod Ross? Now where are the pics...we want pics.
Gordon, look at my sig. I'm not SC, but I do have a few extra goodies on my car. Gotta get to a dyno someday. By now hopefully I'm getting close to 300 RWHP.

Why yes you do...my bust. That's what I get for not reading. Congrats on the new mod Ross and glad to hear you feel a SOTP improvement.
For some reason, my new homemade intake looks remarkably like this one that I took off of JLT's website.

I'm gonna hear about this one....:D
Let's clear something up here...ANYONE looking at the pictures in the link to that other site...realistically can clearly see what it consists of parts wise. It doesn't take a master engineer to shop around the local hardware store to find these pieces.
It wasn't my idea, and many others have backyard created intakes from pvc parts for years now. So PLEASE....don't give me any credit for enjoying the occational fabrication.;)
Pretty easy though, eh?
I found that Sears hardware sells 3' sections of pvc so one doesn't need to buy a ten footer.
You're right, Barry. Even I could have looked at the pics and figured out that the intake is basically some plumbing parts. A very good idea, yes, but still just some plumbing parts. Wish all mods were this cheap and easy!

And the good news is that, being an attorney, Ross can handle his own intellectual property infringement suit!
No way, Marty. I'd have to hire you! BTW, I haven't seen any patent info on those intakes, has anyone else? I doubt that any aftermarket company would pay for a patent on something they didn't expect to sell a lot of. Who knows, I could be wrong. Judges tell me that I'm wrong all the time.
