How much torque does the manual say when you install the Lug Nuts?

I just received my McGard Wheel Guards, so when I installed them, I figured I would check all the lug nuts. Using an "Old Style" Torque Wrench (the type with the pointer, not the clicker) I first broke them loose, then re-tightened them. I used a figure of 75-80 ft/lbs (from memory of other cars) but don't know for sure what they should be set at. They were all looser and had to tighten quite a bit to get to 75-80 ft/lbs.

What is the correct figure?

What he ^^^ said. Which is 129 Nm if that is how your torque wrench is calibrated.

All ^ correct and make sure the threads are dry and free of oil or grease. The friction of the threads is figured into the calculation of stress on the stud. Oiling the threads will only increase this stress and cause the nuts to be prone to looseneing, especially on the left side wheels.

OK. Thanks, I will tighten them some more after I get 25 or 30 miles on them as that is what McGard said to do.

What surprised me was that all five on each wheel were only down around 50lbs before I checked them.

Thanks again.
