I am not a home, or I would post a pic for you.
If your question is not satisfied by saturday I will take a quick pic.
I went through with a new hole just a tad to the left of an existing hole on the drivers side. I believe it was next to the throttle cable hole...passing through next to and below the eec main connector. I used a new gromet and some black body putty top reseal.
It gave relatively easy access to the engine compartment.

Check out Haggis/Gordon's thread about the install we did on his gauges...He posted pictures of the hole I drilled next to the EEC harness (like Barry said).
I removed the EEC computer for easier access/room and drilled from inside the cabin through the firewall, then put a rubber grommet in the hole. I think that the thread was titled "Black Bomber gets new gauges"
P.S. I think that one photo shows me with the Dewalt Drill trying to drill through from the engine compartment side....I could not get the drill to fit nor drill from that side so I ended up pulling the footwell/dash underside's plastic cover and removing the EEC computer for access.

I drilled a hole in the transmissioon hump, put in a grommet and ran the wire right up into the console where the cigarette lighter was and where my tranny temp gauge is now.

I haven't done mine yet, but can't you just follow the Shifter Cable ???
After all, it leads TO the transmission... :dunno:

Good idea but isnt that space made just for the cable so anything else would be hard to squeeze through.
Thanks for all your ideas, I drill tomrrow.

The hole in the firewall has to be big enought for the end of the cable to go through.
All you'd have to do is make a small hole in the grommet and pass through the wire.
How big does the wire have to be ?
I'll guees I will find out when I do mine this spring.
