View Full Version : Discovered sumthin today..
I discovered something I did not know about the Marauder today. I had to pull it away from the garage so I could drive the 'Vette out far enough to wash it (in preps to sell it) and when I got out of the Marauder I hit the door lock button on the door. As soon as I took about one step, I hear the doors unlock. So, I open the door, hit the lock again, take a step, and clack, doors unlock again. Well I'm scratching my head because I'm holding the keys in my hand. Then it hits me, the keys in my hand are to the 'Vette. Duuuuhhhhh, here's my sign:stupid: . But, it was neat to learn that this already awsome car had yet another awsome thing going for it, and that is to aid someone like me who can't move a car 10 feet without trying to lock the keys in it.

Lucky you. The idiots at my local car wash were able to lock my keys in my Marauder.
Luckily after 15 tries I remembered the code.

Yep! If you leave the keys in the car and hit the lock combination on the door key pad, it'll lock. It will also lock with the engine running. I sometimes
take my dog along on short trips, and during hot weather, letting the car run with the A/C on and locked, is kinda neat. Of course, I can also do this with my remote start, but it'll only run 5 minutes and then shuts off.

What HE said.
That is the ONLY way to lock the doors with the keys in the ignition &/or engine running that I am aware of.
Hit the last (2) buttons simultaneously on the keyless entry pad.

Luckily after 15 tries I remembered the code.I can't remember the code either, so I keep it as an entry in my cell phone, which is always surgically attached to my body.

Sounds like advice from a man with experience !!!
You can also pop the trunk using the key pad on the door -- but I can't remember the combination. :D It's in the owner's manual.

You should program your own code in the keypad. It can store up to three codes. Make it relatively easy for you to remember.
Put in the original code. Press one. Then put in your custom code. Wait a bit. Door locks will cycle indicating the code is stored.
With the remote keyless entry I can imagine that the keypad is relagated to very limited/emergency use, so it's good to have an easy to remember code.

Put in your 5 digit code and then press the 5/6 button to open trunk.
Put in your 5 digit code and then press the 3/4 button to open remaining doors.
Press 7/8 & 9/0 together to lock all doors.

You can lock the door manually with the keys in the ignition without putting the code in the keypad, I think. My lincoln allows it. Rather than hit the electric lock just push down on the lock shaft on the door near teh window. you know, the old fashioned way to lock a door. Like we did before electric locks.
