I know we have many LEO's on the site here, so out of respect, I thought I'd give this subject a little 'airtime'. For those that don't know, there were 4 RCMP officers killed in the line of duty last week. Yesterday was the memorial service.
Now, 4 officers may not seem like many to some, but it is the worst single day loss for the RCMP in 120 years. The whole affair was a tear jerker.
No one can recall the last time, if ever, so many officers were in the same place at the same time. They were marching down the street, 8 wide and more than 1000 deep. They took 6 city blocks long, all in Red Serge.
(more to come . . .)

The picture of the fallen officer, with the contable beside it, is his twin brother.
To stand there and hear the fall of 16,000 boots had me in awe. Along the route of the officers, there are several hi-rises under construction. All the workers paused, and took off their hard hats and placed them over their heart as the Mounties walked by.
It was an impressive and imposing sight that I never want to see again.

We had a Maryland State Trooper killed about 10 years ago. It made the CBS evening news. I was in the procesion with the Honor Guard for our department and from the funeral to the gravesite we were the third car. The gravesite itself was 20 miles away. We actually got to the gravesite before the last car left the funeral. It was quite an expierence.

Awesome pics. Understand your sentiment ^^^^. My sympathies to the entire Royal Canadian Mounted Police force and their families.
I didn't hear about this here. Were all four lost in the same action?

A real tragedy for all Canadians. The memorial service last night was quite touching. See this site for more info:

They broadcasted the service live on a Vancouver radio station and I listened to most of it .
A very sad day for all Canadians and especially for those who dedicate their lives to keep our country safe .
Hopefully , this will make our weak-kneed judges and court system start prosecuting these grow -op criminals and make them do real jail time .

I would like to extend my hearfelt thanks to every law enforcement officer out there. And I would like to say that this was a sad day for everyone (not just Canadians) who respect what the men in blue (or red) do for us every day.
bless them all!!!

Yes. Four men inside of a few minutes. A couple got rounds off, and one of them got a piece of him.

Here's a little more on the FREAK who did this. From what I've seen of the patrol cars, they were taken down with something full auto, at least a 5.56 calibre.

This picture was the front page of the paper yesterday. This picture, and nothing else. This was one of the men's partners. The picture says it all.
