Season Opener!

Greatlakes Dragaway opens April 2nd for Free racing from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 2nd and Sunday the third. Does anybody want to race thier Marauder in so. Wisconsin?
Anyone ever try opening weekend@ DA'Grove?

Last year I traveled up to Da'Grove and got rained out twice befor I was able to race.I did beat a Marauder '03 with a chip and air induction, I was bone stock with 9000 miles his only had 4-5 K.whooped him 3X's ( he beat me once, but redlighted.)Very close race(s) less than a car length each race.Fun Fun Fun:D

I checked the extended forcast,Looks like Saturday will be the better of the two days of Free Drag Racing /Spectating.Sunday is going to be a couple degrees warmer but Saturday will be mostly sunny!and 48*
So with the mods I have done since last season,I am hoping to be a second faster than my 15.2. @93mph vs.14.2@ 96 mph ...Possible?:burnout:

Well, Where do I start?

No!, I did not hit my goal of 14.2?But I thought that it may have been a bit lofty

for my moddest mods:o
I did look at the time slips here, and I moved 21 places.My best was my second run@14.66@95.84.The highlights were too numerous to count but I will touch on a few;
The weather was nothing short of incredible,
I brought my bro-in-law who has two cars that could both spank my MM,and has never ever race either,or anything till today.:loco:
I met another Member of MM.net (who told me about this site)at the track, he brought his family with to watch.
The Attention that I recieved from others was startleing.I had people asking where to send the video file of my races that they filmed!,the coolest thing about drag racing in tandem, is watching all the people pointing an stareing from the passenger seat.I rode with and filmed both my guests as they drove the Marauder down the 1320.They both had blistering .5&.8 reaction times and still spanked thier opponents.The first was a non S/c cobra after'99and the second was a VW gti.The cobra must have had enough,:fishslap: after being spanked by two dudes in a big sedan,cause he kept driving after it was over:D A great day! lots of firsts.I want to go faster!

I let my newbie racers (friend & Family)try racing my car this past weekend,
I swear I had as much,... NO! More fun watching the people point and stare ,I could read thier lips "What's that???:confused: Then seeing and hearing the geers, comming from the drivers as they spanked thier opponents one at a time.I am responsible for infecting two people with Marauderitis:help: At least one of them has a Marauder,and maybe driving his own Marauder down the 1320 next time.

I approached a Guy W/ a SS impy and asked how he ran that day.He would only tell me his best last year was 12.8.I wasn't sure why he was being so tight lipped when I was Quizzing him about his mods.

Then he said " I thought you were the same guy that was Supercharged, He was ouy here yesterday, laying down twelves all day"
I wonder if that is anybody here? Lurkers? Mac?:confused:

Not me, I swear.

I was there on Saturday, and the only thing I "layed down" at GLD was roughly 4K miles of future tire life.

I got there about 2 PM and left around 5 PM, just about an hour before the cut off. The only other MM I saw Saturday at GLD arrived as I leaving, and considering the staging time waiting for him, I can't say he made it to the tree before sunset.

With respect for this "laying down 12s all day" remark, it wasn't me, or, any other Marauder in the time period I was present, and I must ask what track this SS dude went to on Saturday?

I left everyone in smoke, signed autographs for some serious burnouts too. Lot's of "thumbs up" and pats on the back for the smoke show, but nothing more impressive. My best of the day was 13.42/110 MPH, maybe they are looking at my trap speed and "supposin"?

Sadly, a smoke show wasn't what I wanted to see on my own personal "opening day." Maybe next time?

( mr.SS)He said exactly what I posted, no embelishment.He did not say what time he was there,But he did say he was there yesterday(on Sunday).
Maybe the guy was jealous seeing the attention you were attracting:o I know every time I got back in line to race,People came to look at the only Marauder there that day.Lots of smiles and Questions,#1 comment(most often heard;"Look at the Size of that motor!"I replied " not bad for 280 cubes,HuH?!"I got some very strange looks from some!:confused:
My guest was flabbergasted,at the ammount of attention the Marauders get at the track:cool:
I noticed many racers with decent trap speed(s) but E.T.'s were consistantly high, all day.

Nobody can hook anyday at GLD, I have only been there twice and could never hook up to save my life.

Can anyone comment on whether or not Byron or RT66 is any better?
