Well, at long last I am no longer a non-Marauder owning member of mm.net. Saturday I picked up my 2003 with more miles than I would have wanted, around 19, but all I could find after long search in California. I test drove one as soon as they came out and for whatever reason though I loved it, went with a Crown Vic (that my girlfriend's now driving). Formerly owner of '64 Falcon, '95 Impala, '89 Caprice. But this, no doubt, the One.

I have many perhaps obvious questions, as I've only ever been a lamen motorhead, but really have designs on supercharging this. If I could get some general thoughts on on this, ideas, and perhaps ideas for other mods, I'm all ears.

Look forward to hearing from y'all.

Welcome! and congrats! You'll love the car.

As far as superchargers, thats a hush-hush word around here unless you say the brand FIRST :) No, seriously.

Search:
Trilogy
Vortech

for S/C and just "mods" for everything else. There is a LOT of great information here at your fingertips as I speak, so don't just sit there - get searchin! There is a lot to learn and almost everything has already been asked.

Again, welcome to MercuryMarauder.net and congrats on your new ride :coolman:

Welcome, Jim.

I think any car needs really good brakes before you start to make more power. Dennis Reinhart can hook you up there, search his threads for the 14" KVR's I got, they're awesome! Stops on a dime and gives you 9 cents change.

You got a 2003 and the tranny in it needs some firming up to last with any supercharger.

A chip-tuner is probably the best power-mod to do first, since you'll be using one for most other power-mods involving hardware later on.

Lots of goodies here. Enjoy! :burnout:

Welcome to the Collective, resistance to moding is futile. You will be assimilated. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/1/u/cyber.gif

Greetings from San Diego, hope to touch base with you. Many good relationships are formed on this site. Enjoy your MM! -kjs-

Thanks guys. It's funny to be one of the only MM's on the road round here (L.A. for God's sake!) and feels such a sense of community. I know me and no doubt and once I get started I'm sure it won't stop, but of all the car's I've had this just feels like the one that deserves the mods and the money.

My only concern is that once the lease on my Crown Vic runs out, this will be my only ride and don't want to take too many chances. But my sense is that the kits are about realizing the car's potential more than anything. Anyone opposed to s/cing it? (doubt it). What about California emissions? as I have yet to investigate it?

Also saw a sick gun metal almost black paint job on a foreign job last night and might go that route. Will obviously keep all abreast and attach phots down the line.

thanks again!

Jim, will pm you about S/C issues in CA. There are lots of CARB related issues and strict enforcement. Prefer to keep the details off the threads. -kjs-

Which is bad when looking for a good used model but really nice when you are driving around with people saying " What IS that car?"

Welcome. I drive through LA quite a bit and rarely see another Marauder, though there are about 10 of us on this site that live somewhere in S. Cal. As for S/C, I'd love to but other expenses and the CARB certification rain all over that parade. I'll likely do brakes first because of our ON/OFF traffic.

Everthing on this car was done by Mr. Dennis Reinhart. Consistent 12.1's in the quarter on 93 octane. Getting ready for the Gateway International FFW. Race tune and higher octane will be in place. Low 11's are expected. If you have any questions about SAFE upgrades, DR is the man. Now I need more rubber to launch the HP Dennis has provided me.
