Well gang I got my Nittos put on my widened rims earlier today.

They look great! I took tonight and hand cleaned the inside of the rims...took 2 hours...1 each.

I put them back on my car...which as been on jackstands for the last couple weeks and now that she's on the ground.....the ABS light is on...all the time.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

It may be a co-inkee-dink.:dunno:

If anything is blocking the pick-up (wheel speed stator)this will trigger the ABS lamp.Thier are countless possibilities. let us know how it turns out

All I can tell you is I had no problems with ABS but the tires did rub on the shocks. I put some spacers to solve that problem. Also, you should have painted the inner rim. It would have taken you less time. :coolman:

I can use my Diablosport Predator tuner to check for trouble codes. If there's a light, there's a code. See if something didn't get unplugged back there too.

Run her down the interstate and check the speedometer accuracy, if it's way off, say 5mph, the tires may be too tall or short and this will cause the ABS to light up. That can be tuned out.

I think that Bradley has made a good point. make sure thatr you didn't disturb anything back there. I never had any problems with the Nitto P305 drag radials. s far as the rubbing, the tire sidewalls will be right up against the chock absorbers only when the car is up in the air, and the weight of the tires ans wheels are extrnding the shocks. but once you fully tighten the lug nuts, and lower the car down, so that the weight of the car compresses the rear shock absorbers, you'll see that you can get your finger between the sidewall of the tires, and the shock absorbers. this simply because the shock absorbers do not sit perfectly verticle, but instead they are mounted in a leaning position.

The only other time that the P305 Nitto tires will rub the shocks is during really big bumps in the road, and it will only be for a split second, and it will not wear the sidewalls of the tires enough to create an unsafe condition. Infact, the soft compoundof the treads of the nitto drag radial tires, will wear out long before the sidewalls will get eaten up from rubbing against shocks momentarily while traveling over the biggest bumps in the road.

As far as the rubbing, the tire sidewalls will be right up against the shock absorbers only when the car is up in the air, and the weight of the tires ans wheels are extrnding the shocks. but once you fully tighten the lug nuts, and lower the car down, so that the weight of the car compresses the rear shock absorbers, you'll see that you can get your finger between the sidewall of the tires, and the shock absorbers. This was not the case with my car. After putting on the widened rims and Nittos I lowered the car to ground level, crawled underneath and looked up at the tire/shock area. To my surprise the tire was just barely touching the shock but touching none the less. It was the same on both sides. I drove the car only around the block, slowly, no bumps, no hard turns. I crawled back under and noticed both tires had rub marks on them, about an inch wide and all the way around. So they were rubbing. My only solution was to buy a set of spacers, even though I didn't feel comfortable using them because of increased stress on the lugs but it was all I could do. I went with what I thought would be the thinnest spacer and at the same time give me enough clearance between shock and tire to feel comfortable with. I used a 7/32 spacer from Mr.Gasket. After installing these I can now just barely get my finger in between the tire and rim and there is no more rubbing.

This is just MY experience with the widened rims and 305 Nittos.:)

One other thing about the widened rims:
I ordered 2 brand new rims to be widened from a Ford dealer in Michigan at $415.00 a piece. Much to my suprise (again) the rims did not come with center caps or valve stems. You would think for that kind of cash they would. I've bought a lot of rims in my life and they always came with the center caps. Just thought I'd mention this to anyone planning to go this route.

Five0, does your 04 MM have TC?? My 03 B has TC, and with near same dia tires front - rear, the TCS light comes on at some 35 mph with related power cut/drop. If you do not have TC, maybe the tire dia is the culprit. Not sure how the sc programming relates to this. Just a thought.
