okay, this is the "storyboard" forum, so I thought that I'd share this. Some of you veteran board members here might remember the story I shared here perhaps 16 or 17 months ago about a blacked out stealth looking Dodge Dakota R/T that was supercharged. Anyway, it's owned by some guy who works where I do, and he often goes to work the same way that I do. There's a stretch of road on the way to work that is perfect. It's a wide open part of a main street, without any parked cars, no driveways, and no side streets for anyone to pull out in front of you. A very wide street also. Plenty of and nice and straight for about 800 or 900 feet. Good for a 15 MPH roll-on acceleration test. Not a place where I go "testing" her to 100 MPH or anything, but well, you get the picture....

A little over a year ago, the guy with this black Dodge Dokota sees me in my car right behind him, and stomps on the go pedal. This was when my Marauder was bone stock, and I tried, but could not keep up with him. When i saw him at work, I pulled up to his truck, and asked him, "what did you do to that thing?"...he then replied, "it's stock" after pressing him for an honest answer, he admitted that he had a 3" exhaust, without cats, and that the truck is supercharged, although he still insisted that it was stock other than the exhaust. I believed him since I knew nothing about those trucks at the time. But after being corrected by some people onb this board about that, I later learned that these trucks never were offered from Dodge with a Supercharger. and I called two dealers to confirm that.

Anyway, since then, I used to see this same guy in the parking lot of our workplace, and he would drive p[ast me and rev the engine to rub it in that his truck beat my car, and I would laugh about it, and rev my engine back at him. But it's rare that I see that guy, and I never get the chance to talk with him since he works in another part of the building. So he had no idea that I supercharged my car since then. And my car is literally three full seconds faster in the quartermile now, then it was when him and I had this little contest. again, please don't get the wrong impression. This wasn't any insane "fast & furious" race to 100 MPH. I'm not going to get into too many specifics other than what I already have, but we were driving uhmmm, past the spped limit. so use your imagination.

well yeasterday, i was right behind this guy in that same truck, and on the same stratch of road without any traffic, he hammers the go pedal once he saw me behind him. and now that my Marauder is a full three seconds quicker in the quartermile, what a dramatic difference in the outcome!!!!! He gave up very shortyl and backed off of the go pdeal since I was right on his case. there wasn't anyone immediately in front him, and he just coasted back down to the speed limit, and so did I, and I remained behind him, but then gave him more space so that I wouldn't be tailgating him all the way to work. He remembered my car I'm sure since there are no cars around here that look like mine, nor that sound like mine. He must have been shocked. :D

I cannot believe you didn't have him a card and say something to the effect of "when you REALLY want to learn what fast is, meet me at the track."

I have no sympathy for showoffs. Nail 'em. :D

LOL.......yeah, something tells me that he won't be reving his engine anymore in the parking lot as he's driving by me. But if he does, then I'll know that he's atleast a good sport. When his truck was faster than my car, the first words I said to him at the time were......"Hey, your truck is fast"......but something tells me that this isn't the type of individual who would ever say that to someone else about thier vehicle whether it's true or not. But hopefully I'm wrong about that. If I get the opportunity to talk to him again, and he tunrs out to be a great guy, then perhaps I'll challenge him to go to the race track with me for an all out competition (I know my car will destroy that truck now!). Especially if he tries to save face by making any hint or suggestion that our vehicles are even closely matched in performance.

BTW, I haven't any idea what type of supercharger he has in his truck since I was in no position to ask him when I had talked to him about it because he insisted that it was "stock" ( ), but it can't be anything that impressive since these trucks(Dodge Dokata R/T's) are no bigger than the Ford Lightnings are, and they have a bigger engine under the hood (360 C.I.D....5.9L). So although our Marauders are possibly a bit lighter than those trucks are, I'm giving up 80 cubic inches to his truck, and that's a significant deficit. That incident was started from a 15 MPH roll just as it was before my car was S/Ced. But this time he got a bigger jump on me since he didn't wait until I turned the corner onto the main street as he did. So I had to play a little catch-up while I heard his engine reving hard, but the Mighty Marauder made it look easy this time. :banana2:

Billy,

If he approaches you and asks what mods are on the car. . .

Tell him that you just recently exceeded the break-in period! :D

Mike.

I wouldn't know for sure, but when I was looking for supercharges for the wife's Durango with the 4.7L V8, I think the options were the Kenne Bell or Vortech. So he could have either. Some of those modified 360s can be built to run well, but they like to eat transmissions.

I think you would probably take him...

Could be either a Vortech S trim/Paxton/or maybe a whippel should of make about 100 more HP over the stock rating of 260 HP at 6 or 8 PSI. But ask him for the truth.

     Way to go.

I know that Shelby offered a Supercharged Durango 360cid some years ago...but I don't think that Shelby did anything with the Dakota R/T....
So much for it being OEM (stock) supercharged!

Billy-- Your story below is somewhat similar to one that happen to me--when # 7 was virgin (not S/C'd), this guy with a 5.7 Dodge Dakota P/U came flying pass me on the way home after work , same time of day, each day, to an on ramp to the Interstate..which was at least a 1/4 mile long run ..anyway--this dude came up to me and actually suprised me and wanted to "run" after seeing me for several days.....--all this at the very begining of the on ramp--so , without looking at his side markings, ( 5.7 crap) I gave it a go just for fun , the MM romped up and started to run and we were side by side --but you gotta remember , I had never done this before and this being my first time, well ,I was caucious...so before I knew it , it was time to turn right which was a 90 degree turn down to the Interstate , and he scares the crap out of me cause he keeps pushing it around the corner , so I had to give way to let him not roll over..--heck --I didn't think he was going to turn from the left lane over into mine to turn in front of me to go to the same right hand turn=----anyway--He felt he had "won" and gave me the "oh you ain't nothing" wave...well, that of course Pixxed me off...and I have never seen him since..but I figured he will be down that road some day and I will be also , and this time --IT WILL BE DIFERENT!!

Thank you for letting me want this guy back... and you will hear about it when it happens......Tom

Billy,
You really need to finish off this kill.
Keep a look out for him then, well, finish him off!Oh, I agree. But now that he knows that my car performs much better than it used to, he also knows that he's no match for me. But if he tries, and it's a relatively safe, and wide open area that we're at again, then he's history. But the chances of that are slim since the conditions have to be right. I never see the guy on the highway at night when there's no traffic, so it makes it difficult. And I refuse to go crazy in moderate or heavy traffic conditions. It just isn't worth it. I just wish that we had a drag strip in our homestate!!!!!:mad2:

Thank you for letting me want this guy back... and you will hear about it when it happens......TomTom, you did the right thing by backing off the last time. you ran out of room, and you exercised better judgement than that clown did!!! I will not drive crazy around turns, since most of them are blind turns, and you cannot see what's waiting for you on the other side. That guy you went up against sounds very careless. Many of us take chances, yes, but going crazy on a straight away that's wide open with plenty of visibility is bad enough. However doing that around turns is just insane IMO.

Please Tom, be carefull. I sincerely mean that pal.:)
