not sure if you need the exact screws it came with

go to home depot and find some...

as for the instructions, I pretty much just aligned the spoiler with the trunk lid, got another opinion from my mom if it was straight and glued it on... then drilled the holes and sealed the deal.

good luck

Hang tight. I'am sure someone will come up with the directions.

Instructions came with cut out stencils which tell you where ti drill holes on outside and inside of trunk. Also came with custom rubber plugs. I would not attempt to install this without this stuff. Holes must be drilled in exact spot.

Lord Vader:

I have instructions that I will be glad to e-mail you...as far as the hardware, the spoiler is held on with 4 8mm hex bolts...I'm not sure what length, but you should be able to test-fit a selection from any well-stocked hardware store. The difficult part will be knowing where to drill the holes without the special plastic locating pins that come with the kit...you'll see what I mean when you look at the instructions.

PM me your e-mail address or I can snail-mail if you prefer.

*Edit*... the templates Directedby mentions are part of the instructions...you just cut them out and tape them in place...

the stenciled instructions are only for dealers... without them they can't get anything done, lol....

i Bought a spoiler a while ago and brought it to my local speed shop which does 'custom' work. I wanted to fill in the cut out in the center.

Well, needless to say they butchered the spoiler and it would not sit flush to the trunk. They tried 6 times to fix it and ultimately I let it go.

Hence, I have instructions, hardware, line up guides and the cut out guides.

Let me know where you are. I am in LA, California.

You will need the alignment inserts (for lack of a better term), HOWEVER ...

You do not need the templates for drilling the inner panel holes. Why ? Once you get the holes drilled on the outside of the deck lid for mounting the spoiler, take a punch (or a spike nail), put it in the drilled holes, and whammer it thru the inner panel; the metal isn't that thick.

The whammered holes serve as the pilot holes for your 1" hole drill to go thru the inner panel.

Tip/Hint: Use some paint to cover all of the exposed metal edges as the result of the drilling. *A dab of silicone for each of the drilled mounting holes is a bonus.

*For me it was a one-person installation that took less than 30minutes.

My Ford dealership even had a hell of a time installing the rear deck spoiler.

30 minute installation eh? It will take me a month just to get up the balls to drill a hole in my trunk lid... :D

Hope it works out for you.

DVader,

The instructions are pretty straight forward and the templates are right on the money. The only thing that the instructions do not tell you is to line your trunk with a plastic tarp that you would place on your floor if you were painting. If you don't do this you will be vacuuming metal filings for the next six months. I know this from experience.

Yes.. but if you use a plant spray bottle... and spray a mist in your trunk for about a week.... you'll be able to find those metal filings easily. Just look for the little orange spots !

Magnet works just fine (no vacuuming nor spray bottle of water involved).

DON'T DRILL ! Install w/ automotive double sided tape.

I've done it. Didn't like the look cause it hides my Gods head rear badge, so I removed it a few months later.
Glad I didn't drill.

what type of tape did you use, how did you remove it from the paint and what damage did it cause?

thanks.

Used an automotive tape that I got from a body shop. (Walmart also carries a good tape).

The spoiler already comes w/ the double sided tape all around the outside edge. I cleaned both surfaces w/ alcohol & added the tape to the center of the spoiler. I doubled it up to get the correct thickness. I heated the tape & the surfaces w/ a hair dryer before I applied it.

Marked the location of the spoiler w/ masking tape, you need another pair of hands for help.
Clean the trunk w/ alcohol, heat the area w/ a hair dryer. Make sure you get it lined up right cause once you stick you can't ajust it !

To remove it, I used WD40 to soak top of spoiler. Heated the area w/ a hair dryer. Used a plastic tool to pry against a plastic squeegie that slide between the surfaces. Go slow & keep heat in the area you prying.
I did have some small surfaces scratches that would not happen if I did it again. I used a polish compound to remove.

*Can't get any better :up:I tried that and it did not work. I preped the spoiler and the trunk by cleaning with mineral spirits then isopropyl alchohol. The problem is the spoiler was not the exact same shape as the trunk. The ends of the spoiler had to be pressed down. I let the car sit in the garage for two days before driving it. The first day in the sun the tape let go in the corners. I don't think the spoiler will fall off but I'm not happy with the way it looks. I will be removing it and using screws and tape to hold it in place.

BTW this was the spoiler from my 03. It was held in place on the 03 with tape only. It fit the 03 trunk perfectly.
