So my dad's driving my MM up to pittsburgh from new jersey (about a five hour ride) and at the end of the trip, the transmission goes out. The car stops and he's stuck in the end of the penn. turnpike. I dont understand how it could have happened. To be truthful, I've manually downshifted to take turns, however, Ive heard from other readers that they've done it too?

And does anyone know of any lincoln/mercury dealers around the pittsburgh area?????

Sorry to hear of these troubles....I have little advice....

BUT, I was wondering what became of you. Nice to hear from you. You still have the Marauder?

If you call L&M 800 number I sure they will direct you to the nearest shop.

Let us know how it turns out.

Sorry to hear you guys are stuck. Guess you got it towed and spent the night. They make a big fuss about roadside assistance and getting you going in a hurry, hopefully L/M made good on it.

Please let us know how/what they did to assist you, it's valuable information for all of us.

Yes, I do have the marauder still... However she's at the Mercury Dealership near me now...Man I dont know what happened -- My dad had to drive it for an hour in 2nd gear, because 1st and Drive would only have this high pitched sound resonating from the car...

End of PA Turnpike..Sorry the end of the trip on the PA turnpike, turning off to go to 376 West......

They will diagnose the problem on Monday and I'll have to have a friend drive me to the dealership to pick her up--- Jeez, I'm worried.

Any bets on the torque converter? Mine died... twice. That high pitched sound sounds a lot what what like I had experienced, the sound of a Pump Gone Bad.

After looking on a map, you were very close to either Day Ford or Biondi Lincoln Mercury next door. Even the Monroeville Mall is up the hill from them (my old stomping grounds).

Interesting trivia: "Dawn of the Dead" was filmed there in 1978.

Yes Sir.....the car is put in the Biondi LM.. Torque converter? Hmmm, how would it have gone wrong though? It was fine the last couple times I drove it over spring break...

20 inchers used to be on the car :) it was 255/35/20 Sumitomo tires....

I took them off and put the 18s back on to drive to school... Too many potholes in pittsburgh!!

Dunno... it just sounds like what I went through twice.
And as an aside, it doesn't matter if it was fine the last time you drove it. If it's broke now, it's broke now.
It's kinda like a light bulb that burned out... it worked yesterday! :D :D :D :D
