Just got back from midnight mayhem at the strip, the track was slick as could be , no one was really hookig up. Met to great guys Richard and James, James owns a MM but wasnt racing it at the time. Richard has an 00 p71 with some glass backs and good looking dual tips, he says he's planning on doing some major mods to it.
As for me, well my ET's sucked. when the car only had 4.10's in it it ran a 15 flat, now with everything I have I was expecting at least low 14's if not high 13's. I ran a 14.9 and a 15.3 I had 100 octane race gas in it, took out everything ( mats, spare, cleaned trunk), and dropped the pressure in the rears to 20 psi. manually shifted perfectly at 5500 to make a nice, crisp 6500 red line. Am I crazy about thinking i should be low 14's or do i need to find a good track?

Last time I ran I was running 14.5's with 4:10, SCT tune, JLT and x pipe/flowmasters.
Park Rangers MM ran 14.3. He only has 4:10, SCT, Underdrives and PI 3000 TC.
I have added, PI Stallion 3000 TC, Cobra ported Exhaust Manifolds, PHP spacer and Underdrive Pulley's and am hoping for high 13's.
What is the elevation at that track?

What was the temp and humidity?
I run 13.7 to 14.2 depending on the Temp and Humidity. You shouold be doing the same.

14.2's on chip, 4.10's, and 100 octane only. Don't manually shift, let the computer do it.

LV....a couple things to note here.
The 100 octane will not help you in ANY way if you are not using an advanced timing program in your tune to take advantage of it.
The rear tires, even if OEM, at 20lbs is what I might consider too low. I do not run my slicks below 26 lbs.
Last, manually shifting? No way man. You are losing a ton of time shifting as such. Let the tranny do its own work. Your tune also plays a vital role in this scenario. If you didn't modify your shift and lockup points after putting in that new stall converter...you are gaining little.
With gears and tune only, I ran 14.4-14.6 at Ennis Texas in the late summer.
With stall, pullies, t/c, and proper tuning I run 13.2-13.5 consistantly on worn street tires in temps no higher than 74 degrees.

The elevation was about 2000 feet, humidity , well its las vegas, so no higher than 35%.
Do you know if park ranger has the micro tuner or something else?
I always though manual shifting was better than auto, pretty sure i heard it on this board too, but If barry and other say it, ill beleive it.
Finally, whats the best way to get the most out of my TC? i.e. diablo, dennis, SCT, sniper, what?
Thanks for the info fellas.

At 2000 feet you multiply your time by .97 to get your accurate 1/4 mile time - basically it is about .5 sec less.
Does the track you went to have a website?

You should definitely do better with your setup. I have the same set-up and run 14.00 with a lousy driver. My car is capable of 13.8/9s with a good driver. Let the trans shift by itself and get the TC working with a good tune. One simple indicator is how much rubber can you burn from a dead stop and idle. If your TC is working correctly you should toast the tires.
