This is by no means an original idea since Dads have been doing this for years.....my Dad used to do the following for me and my brothers and sisters, and I know that other families have done this too, but incase you're one of those Dads who still has small kids (about 6 or 7 years old) who believe in the Easter bunny, and you've never done this for them, I suggest you do this, cuz it's real cool, and your little ones will have a blast participating.....

My Dad used to wake up about 4:00 am (way before anyone else in the house would be awake) and he would have a whole bunch of Easter candy to plant in some secret place in the house where nobody would find it......

He would then leave hand written notes in different areas of the house, out in the yard, in the garage, the mailbox, everywhere.. (allegedly from the Easter Bunny ofcourse)...the first note for my brother and I was always on the door of our bedroom...it would read something like..."Good morning Billy & Jimmy, Happy Easter.!!...proceed to the Living room mantle for a big surprise"...then we would run to the mantle above the fireplace in the living room, only to find another note there that said......"Now go to the basement".....then we would find another note sending us outside to the backyard, the mailbox, garage, etc., etc....... he would leave about 14 or 15 notes, and the last one would be right where all that great candy was hidden, with a final note that said "Happy Easter!!!!!" ....boy that was so cool, and my brother and I loved doing that for a couple years between the ages of 6 and 7. I think that by the time we were 9 years old, we had already figured out that there wasn't any Easter Bunny, so my Dad's fun (as well as ours) concerning that event was over by then.

I dunno, maybe kids these days are already too grown up for that sort of thing by the time they're old enough to read. I don't have kids, so I wouldn't know. But those days were so cool. I think that it's important to teach kids that the main reason for Easter is to remember what Christ did for us on the cross, and that he rose again from the dead on the third day, but I also see nothing wrong with the Easter Bunny thing in addition to that for the young kids while it lasts. Just a thought. Take it for what it's worth. My Dad is gone, so I like to remember him in those ways sometimes. I mean the guy held down two jobs for years to support us seven kids, and yet he still made time for cool things like that.....it might not sound like much, but it meant a lot to us back then. :)

I do have kids, both older and younger than that (14 as of yesterday, 10, 6, and 1) and it is an excellent idea. I do think kids grow up faster today. Reminds me to try make more time for them b4 they're grown up and gone. I always try to make sure they know what Easter really means. Happy Easter to you and yours. :)

I did this for years for my kids when they were little. :D I used those hollow plastic eggs and put candy, little toys (like Hot Wheels cars), maybe a quarter or two and a couple dollars in a few. Since I am not a morning person  , I would hide 'em late at night after the kids were asleep. The thrill of the hunt was always the best part for them and they still remember the Easter morning ritual fondly. I got so good at hiding the plastic eggs that it was not unusual to run across a couple of them in July or August. Anyway, it's fun ............ and the children like it !!!
