So I was going down the "track" Thursday and out of a Mickey D's parking lot pulls this 35th Anniversary Mustang GT Drop top. Some guy, mid to late 50s, white hair, sipping a milkshake..... He pulls out and goes a little sideways, showing off. I pull up at the next light next to him and he looks over.
"WHats that? Some kind of Crown Vic GT?"
"No, its a Marauder...."
"I thought those were Nissans...."
"No, Marauder, Mercury Marauder....."
"Lets see what it'll do....."
"OKay, but Shes a little heavy, you probably got me here...."
So here goes...
1. Trac Ctrl Off
2. A/C Off
3. O/D Off
4. 2000 RPM hold
5. 1300 RPM Launch and I'm a car length and a half in front of this guy the whole way, I shut it down about (speed withheld)
The next light he pulls his sunglasses down.
"What the hell is in that thing?"
"Its mostly stock...."
He was amazed. I know, Convertibles are heavy....but it was fun nonetheless.
Not every day you see a Mustang GT getting spanked by a 4 Door Lead Sled....
This has been a fictitious fabricated story. Wes does not condone street racing nor does he partipate in it. Had this been a real race, it would have been done on a closed race track with proper, and safe equipment.

Nice, Wes !!! Funny that he had to ask both "before" and "after".
FYI. The 35th Anniversary edition was the 1999 model, not the 2001.

:coolman: Nice kill Wes. His milkshake must have slowed him down. He should know better than to be in Mickey D's at his age anyway. His arteries aren't getting any younger.

:D
Ran into a 2000 Mustang GT on the Grand Pkwy who was more than willing. When all was done he turned off to avoid pulling up next to my marauder. Looking for more victums.
We need to do lunch so as to get few tips on how best to run my MM.:flamer:

Now fellas! This was not on a city street was it? You know how posting stories of high speed racing in non-controlled situations is frowned upon!
I guess I must have mis-read your post Wes, this was an alleged contest,,, RIGHT?
Just trying to keep us all on the straight and narrow here before the flames begin.

Way cool if you haven't.

This is the greatest testiment of book cover judgement. This is like the little scat back on the football field thinking the big burley linemen are to slow to catch them. In reality, the big burley lineman runs the same 4.5-4.6 as the scat back, he just hits a lot harder. I had the same thing happen to me but on a chess board. My freshman year of college, during inprocessing we were playing chess and a little geek was running the room. I sat down and engaged him in a game, several moves later the geek got up and was disgusted that "he go beat by a football player." Wes...go get em again...but save me a few.

Mark the only reason you won that award is because you are so loved and well respected around here.

I spanked a convertible the weekend just before I got rid of my black MM. We went from stoplight to stoplight about four times and I beat everytime. His girlfriend was laughing at him.

I was not impressed with the 04 40th Aniv Edition Mustang I drove last summer. I obviously was with the Marauder. :D

Got to disagree on this one. I seem to see it quite often. :banana2:
I've noticed with my tune, etc., I've got most of the stock and "mildly warmed" GT's covered. This includes the older 5.0's and the newer models.

Sir, the reason I am giving you this citation is for excessive domestic vehicle abuse... in that, to wit, you really need to concentrate you agressiveness towards the riceburners and stop beating upon the American automobiles. This carries only a ten dollar fine and you do have to appear in court so that we can public embarass you and make you see the error of your ways...here is your court date and have a good Sir ! :burnout: :burnout:

We got the older Cobra Mustangs (pre S/C) too, if the driver is a little retarded:loco:

Way cool if you haven't.James, that's an awesome BW photo. It has nothing to do with Marauders, but I like it. I checked out your site, and you do some nice stuff. Just curious about what equipment you shoot with.

Nice kill! I had a similar run-in with a new 05 owner in my Cobra (you know, prepare to be destroyed by the fastest Mustang built, yada yada), it was the first time I ever heard/used the term "buslengths" to describe a kill!
