Starting off the new season,Whats your racing tip, tricK or ritual to prepare to drag race.I was refering to things other than od off, t/c off, no acc. on ect.
I will try the following
Tire pressure; max 44psifront 22psi rear ( almost down to the wear bars)
remove front headlamp drivers side
remove spare tire
cool manifold between runs
1/2 tank of fuel
I am sure thier are others,Anyone care to share thier ideas?
Thanks

Mines real basic fold in mirrors most of the 2nd gen Lightning drivers do it and gain any were from a .03 to a .08 decrese in they'er numbers of corse our mirros are not nearly as big but they are still air brakes when they'er folded out. All of my runs have been with regular tire pressure 1/2 or more of fuel my 180 LBS of dead weight. everything electronic off Climate control/compass/OD/All external and internal lights off/Air ride off and anything else that draws off the electrical system/; Noticed when Climate/Lights/and Airride is on the volts say 12 to close to 13 when everything above is off its just a little over 14 volts

Don't run any less tire pressure on the rears than you need to. If you can hook up good at 35psi then run them there. You might try even less fuel than that also.

Disconnect the electrical plug to your AC compressor clutch and turn on the AC between runs. This will keep the fan on anytime the car is running. Then turn off the AC when you go to stage. You could also leave the floormats at home and run your wiper reservoir dry it holds a bunch of water! :D

Thanks, for the tips!

I am concerned that a quarter of a tank of gas won't allow me to race all day.Last time I went, I think I had ten runs, and used a third of a tank of fuel.
If I run the fuel too low won't that potentially damage the fuel pump(overheat)?

I didn't realize you would be there all day. Yep, better stick to 1/2 a tank. Definitely don't want that fuel pump to suck any air. My friend lost 2 fuel pumps in his LS-1 like that. He was always running around getting into races with the tank sitting on or close to "E". Both of them were covered under warranty. Both times he added fuel to the tank so that the dealer wouldn't realize what had happened...

something that usually works pretty well for me, eyes forward, don't pay any attention to the other guy until right before the finish line. If you are worried about playing catch-up or keep-ahead you might get nervous, or jumpy and mess up. The less crap i have going through my mind the better i do, i only look for my opponent right before i'm about to finish to see if i should back off any. I also bring my iPod so i can listen to music W/O affecting the cars electrical system any, it keeps me loose, if i focus too much i get jumpy and mess up, if i have some music or just a little distraction i tend to do much better than when i am 100% focused on something, it's like 98% is my magical number or something.

You turn the Compass off by hitting the Mode key right in front of the compass readout

As long as the roadway is smooth not a problem. I found out this little trick from doing a few runs with it on and off. When it's on the back wants to float around. But the bad thing with it being off it doesn't want to transfer the weight to the rear wheels properly.

Since it does not want to "squat" properly, Does the car respond better with pre-loading the driveline with a small 1500-2000 rpm brake torque?Any adverse results/risk from running W/O air ride?Did you see any gain from lowriding?
Thanks for your Ideas:thinker: !

With my JDM tuned superchip I can't take my RPM's up to 1500 or its just a :burnout: :burnout: When the 3rd yellow shows But when I was stock a 1200 or 1500 RPM launch always seemed to do the best for me. But my advise is try every possable RPM to launch and see which 1 nets your best 60 foot mark. Have a notepad handy and write down the RPM you launched at. But if you hear screaming rubber your to high drop it by 100 RPM increments.

But my best advise is relax and have fun.

My best times have been achieved with preloading. Somewhere between 1200-1500 works best for me. Somewhere around 1500-1800 just gives me a second burnout (at the tree!) Some people recommend no preload, but that kills my reaction time.
