Hello.

I've only had my ride (an '03 300A, with < 800 mi. on it) for three weeks, and just noticed today that the molded plastic inside lining for my left front wheel well is missing! I bought the car out of state from a small-town, unaffiliated dealer in Georgia, who in turn had bought it from the estate of an elderly gentleman who died last Fall, and I'd be very surprised if the car didn't come this way from the factory, especially given its very low mileage and the age of its first owner, the car being 100% stock.

Has anyone else experienced this anomaly? This is a warrantable situation if the circumstances are as I think they are, but I imagine that I'll have trouble getting a local Mercury dealer to install a liner under my remaining warranty. I imagine that I'll hear "Obviously the first owner removed the liner."

Yep,

Its not missing, it was never there...

I like it because it makes it easy to change the Fog Lamp bulb.
I wish both sides were like this...

Welcome aboard. :D

As stated above all Marauders are missing that part. Apprantly FMC never had it manufactured. There were threads on this subject with no resolution to the best of my knowledge.

Wow; that strikes me as being truly bizarre, but I have to say that there's a part of me that's just as glad, because I frankly didn't feel like fighting with a dealer that I didn't buy the car from for a seemingly fairly minor matter such as this, but I would have felt somewhat compelled to just as a matter of due diligence, and also out of concern that the lack of splash protection would cause problems with the fog lamp and/or wiring.

Why in the world would Ford have a right guard, yet not a left one??

As a quality matter, I'm reminded of the time my Dad had just taken delivery on his brand new '85 Crown Vic. When I went out to the driveway to check it out, I noticed that the rear pillar had a "Crown Victoria" badge on one side, and a "Grand Marquis" badge on the other! I loved it, and tried to convince him that it made the car a collector's item, or at least a good conversation piece, but he was livid, and insisted that the dealer resolve it. The long and the short of it is that the fellas decided that they couldn't remove and replace the offending badge without damaging the landau roof, so they replaced the whole roof! That car must've been haunted anyway. Several years later when it was back at the dealer's shop for servicing, it caught fire and was totalled!

mercfirst, don't feel too bad about this. I did the same thing. Actually I noticed mine after running over a plastic bottle and thought the inner liner had fallen out. I took it back to the dealer. They didn't know either and tried to order the non existant part. Needless to say I was a little embarassed about the whole thing.:o

You were embrassed, what about the Parts Manager trying to order a non-existing part. Now that's funny.

There was no reason for you to be embarassed for FMC's mistake.
