View Full Version : You Think this is adaptable to MM's?

The makers say that "custom applications" for all makes and models are available. I'm thinking that this may be adaptable to current Marauder intake systems, if you just used the scoop, filter housing, angle tube, coupling boots and mounting hardware. The scoop part fits into a slot cut into the air dam that directs air up into the radiator, which we have, and mounts to the front sway bar. In the SS, it connects to the throttle body, which is in the front center of the SS engine bay. In our application, the MAF adapter wouldn't be used at all, nor would the throttle body connecting piece. The filter casing could be attached to an intake exention tube that would attach to the angle tube. The angle tube would attach to the MAF, the rest would be whatever intake system you have, i.e. JLT, K&N, Metco, whatever. The makers say the scoop part allows water to drain out the back of the scoop.
Again, due to vendor rules, PM me for the link and take a look. May not work, but I've seen at least two other MM's where the owners were working on something like this on their own.

The only way I can see this remotely working is to mount it in the same place as the SS, in the center of the engine bay, behind the radiator and in front of the pulleys. Two angle tubes would be needed - one for the transition from vertical to horizontal, another to make the turn into the MAF. And you'd need two extention tubes. And a couple of custom brackets.
Then you'd still have a ***** of a time changing the filter, have the intake in your way when working on the pulleys, and I ain't sure if the upper radiator hose would be a problem.
Hmm. This is looking suckier by the minute.

I wouldn't do that. I know someone who had a BMW with an intake like that and went threw a puddle. His motor blew because water got it in. I don't know if it would work, but I've heard bad things about those.

Hey Donny. Great post. I, too, have been thinking/looking for ways to improve our air intakes. The design you posted is a great idea, but I too would be afraid of water getting into the engine due to the "near the ground" design, (and I don't even drive in the rain... the occasional puddle would be scary enough). If we could get a similar design, only connected to a functional hood scoop then I'd sign up for the mod today!

The "Ram Air" effect isnt realyl good until you go over 100 MPH anyway....

Doesn't that "scoop" look kind of small?

If mounted where it is for SS, plus the elbows needed to get it to TB, it is a LOT of hose to travel.
I don't think it would have any effect of 'ram air'.
Keep ideas coming. I would like somehing like this.
I have thought that the most effective application for the Marauder would be a finctional hood vent above the airbox then a cistom application to seal the vent to the airbox.

Never mind sucking up water, wouldn't that sharp 90 negate the ram effect?

Why do we need a PERISCOPE ? :dunno:
