Since I installed my PHP Intake spacer I have been encountering something strange.

At first I though it was the power steering pump making noise but it wasn't.

When I pull up to a stop or am parked with engine running I notice that if I turn my wheels to the left or right, my idle fluctuates and my JLT intake quickly sucks in a spurt of air - it is very quick. If I move the steering wheel fast from left to right it will keep on sucking air in in little spurts - tsss - tsss - tssss - tssss.

I realize that the load of using the steering pump can cause some fluctuation, but if I put the car in PARK and hold the throttle at 1,200 RPM's and turn the steering right or left, the same thing happens, so I don't think it is a low idle speed.

Any ideas????

I also have the spacer, I would check to make sure you don't have a leak along the intake path including the spacer itself, also check if the movement of the steering shaft makes contact with any wiring...make sure all your intake connections are tight and all gaskets (MAF adaptor) are in good shape. Let us know what you find.

At that low RPM, the IAC does have a little influence.
Every time the pressure increases in the Power Steering system, a sensor closes and alerts the PCM.
The PCM, in turn, pulls in on the pintle of the IAC, allowing more air to enter the intake,
and it will increase the RPM to counteract the loss of RPM by the Power Steering drag.
At 1200 RPM, the IAC will draw enough air past it to raise the idle and cause the vaccuum to increase in the intake slightly.

I would get yourself a can of ether.
Spray it in short bursts around the spacer.
If after a short spray, you idle rises, you've found an air leak.
No rise in RPM and your spacer is sealed.

You may want to disassemble the IAC body and clean it out with Throttle Body cleaner.
Carbon can cake up inside of the bore and cause it to sound noisy also...
