Ok guys, please vote. I'll be able to gauge by your interest, (or lack thereof) if it's worth putting a wiring kit together for this mod. Here's a link to the other thread with the main discussion: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?p=240571#post24 0571

Thanks.

:bump:

Ok guys, 16 votes so far and there are almost as many that feel ill as that want the wiring kit. I'll give this a while longer, but it's starting to look like emailing instructions and pics to those interested may be the best course. But, if you are just seeing this post, or are still on the fence, then vote. I'll still do some kits this weekend if there is more support.

Hey Dave,.. personally, I'd just like the instructions. I'd like to get the parts myself, that's half the fun.

Ok. I've got ya on my list to email, (as everyone who emailed and PMed me as well). I'll try to get it to you this weekend. :)

A kit would be nice, but if that falls through, the instructions only option would be good too.. :o

Voted for instructions only, but once I know whats involved, I may opt for the kit if it's still available. The price seems reasonable to me.

I like the do it yourself idea. I like working on my cars, except when you have to fix them and get dirty.

Ok, I think I have a good idea of interest in this mod now....
For all of you who voted for kits you'll be happy to hear that I'm making up enough for all who want them. Please be patient for a few more days as I make this kit the quality kit that you all deserve. You'll be hearing from me with details soon.
For all of you who wanted instructions and details of the parts needed, please stay tuned as well. I'll email or PM per your requests.

I'd just like to say, because I fear I may have missed this point in past posts, that you don't have to use neon lights with this mod. You can use any underbody light you'd like.
The real excitement for me was that we don't need the "factory" kit for this mod. I, for one, was really bummed when I couldn't get one due to them being sold out at the dealerships, or no longer available. Due to a special favor from a member here I was able to procur a "factory" kit, which I proceeded to install.... only to discover what was involved and that we can all do this if wanted.
Anyway, the bottom line is if you want lights to come on under your car when you unlock the doors, then I can show you how.
I'll be in touch with all of you very soon! :)

Hi guys,

I was just informed that another complete wiring kit is in the works from Shakes_26. Although I have my kits ready, (minus the lights) Shakes informed me that he has been working a complete kit, (including the factory lights) and should be ready to ship within the next week or two.
At this point I must refer all who are interested to Shakes_26 since he has been working this longer, and with as-good-as, or better than OEM parts. I wasn't aware of Shakes endeavor and am thrilled that he has made this mod available to us as a group.
Therefore, please refer inquiries regarding this underbody lighting mod to Shakes_26. I'll still email and PM the instructions I used for MY mod to those who asked for them, but kits should be obtained from Shakes.

Thanks.

Ok guys... those of you who were interested. Here are pics of my wiring harness for neon lights for the underbody kit, (and yes, they are different than the factory "puddle" lights).
I didn't mean to step on Shakes_26 toes with my threads... I honestly forgot he was working this project. He is working a, "as good or better-than OEM factory kit including lights".
However, for those of you who are interested in wiring your own neon kits, (as demonstrated in my pics) then this harness is all you need.
Please contact Shakes first, (I'm not sure where he stands on the neon kits) and then contact me if further instruction is required.
Remember, I'd just like to help others here as I have been helped in the past. I make enough money at work and don't need to make any from my friends. I saw that there is some interest in this mod, and I'm here to help any way I can.
However, having said all that, if you want to BUY a kit, contact Shakes first. If he would rather not get involved in whatever aspect of your lighting kit, (for whatever reason) then PM me.
Ok, guys, have fun with it! :)

Hello everyone.

Still Interested in the Underbody Light kits, the factory OEM style kits are available. I've been a little slow getting the vendor account setup with Logan, that should be good to go.

What we have here is a close representation of the factory Security/Valet lighting kit. The main difference is I've had the brackets designed from Aluminum (not steel like OEM) for no rust, they are Powder coated black (not painted like OEM), more durable. We use sealed, vibration/shock resistant bulbs, hardware is included, even 3M tap splices for those not inclined to solder, all wires have protective cover where required. The wire harness is designed specifically for the 99-up Panther platform, instructions provided to connect to your Marauder, CV, or GM.

Anyway take a closer look here (http://www.marauderconcepts.com/); retail is $159.99 plus shipping and tax.

For MM.net members, I'll offer a group buy price of $149.99 including shipping to the lower 48 (FedEx Ground). Florida residents add sales tax. All you need is 5 buyers, for 10 buyers or more same free shipping deal, plus price drops to $144.99.

When we get the required amount of buyers, I'll PM you with instructions.

For references, you can check with SoulRiot he has them installed on his car, and Ghost03 has seen these on both my car (test mule) and SoulRiot's car.

I've seen these kits on both cars. They don't look ricer at all. I like the set up where the underbody lights go on with the interior lights and headlights when using the keyless remote,
VERY SEXY.............

Marc (Shakes_26) has put together a great kit here. I've seen the 'OEM' kit and this kit, and Marc's much more complete aswell as better instructions. You can't see anything when the car is just parked, but once you click the unlock button, wham! lights on. I'm sure the rest of the 2%ers will be very happy with this product.

More night shots coming, there hard to take because the way the camera adjusts for the light, I'll try a longer exposure.

Well I added three shots, no lights, all lights (hit keyfob to unlock door), just interior and underbody (door ajar). Click here (photos not in order) (http://www.marauderconcepts.com/Underbody%20lights.htm)

The lights are triggered by the unlock button on the RKE, the KE buttons on the drivers door, opening any door, or turning on the interior lamps (not the overhead reading or map lights).

Let me know if you have any other questions

I have an OEM kit up for grabs. It didn't (and won't) get put on to LK.

If someone is interested, let me know and make me an offer.

Since some people can't use the classified section, I'll start a seperate thread for the group buy, so everyone can see where we are at.

thanks.

I'd like to possibly install encapsulated LEDs in the underbody. They will last longer than neons or halogens or incadescent lights. I'm thinking blue for reduced IR emissions.

shakes_26
06-07-2005, 11:34 AM
They exist, just more expensive, are you worried about IR emissions? Do you wear a hat made of aluminum foil too? Just kidding.

They do make an LED module, red and white that fits the brackets for the kits I had made. They are pricey if I remember and were not available in blue are you thinking strips? Like neons?
