This post is for all of us that run Winter Shoes,
and change back to Summer Sneakers...

After you've swapped your wheels/tires and put on 500 - 1000 miles,
please go back and check the torque on your lug nuts.

I put back on my OEM Wheels with fresh rubber about 1000 miles ago.
Whenever I take the wheels off and put them back on, I always tighten the lugs with a torque wrench.
Well today I decided to just check them, and on each wheel, I could just get about 1/16th - 1/8th turn
on 2 of the lugs, while the other three were still good.
While it's not a lot, if I were to let it go, and the lugs were to back off any more,
it could cause a potential problem with the rotors warping, down the line.

So it only takes two minutes, and can only insure...
-That your wheels are on tight.
-Your Rotors stay straight as long as possible.

I purchased a torque wrench for $25 at a local auto parts store. Works great.

I put my Nitto's on the widened rims and had to use spacers to get them to fit. (Don't even try to tell me they will fit if you lower the car...I already know and drove it 100 feet and scuffed the inside of the Nitto's pretty good...another mile or so and they would have blown).

I have put 400 miles on my Nitto's with the 1/4 spacers on...and I rechecked today.....they needed tightening. Not much...but it was noticable. I'll be checking these rear lugs with my torque wrench every few hundred miles. Its got a spot in my trunk from now on.

As long as you check them cold this is a good idea.

Actually, a good way to tell if any are loose is to inspect for rust stains coming out from between the nut and the wheel. I have to do this if I have any paying passengers with me by State Law requirements on my chauffers licence.

:D

Yeah, rust stains on your nuts is not a good sign.

As long as you have a 'pair', I don't think you will be affected by any 'recalls' !
