I am on the hunt for those dog dish looking wheel covers for steel wheels. Actually they are not moon looking ones, but the center cap looking ones many of the local LEO's have on their crown vics. They almost look as though the they fit over or thru the lug bolts??
Been all over the internet, all I can find is the big 16" wheel covers.

And I am not interested in plain round 8" hubcaps.

Does anyone know the name of these covers so that I know what to ask for when I start calling around locally?

This isn't the exact cap I am looking for, but similar

why do you want to put Taxi caps on your car?

The 2003s take a new full cover from the ones you see on eBay. I'd go for a set of the new full covers from a base Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria

These are 2003 Grand Marquis wheels, as used on the Ultimate edition (and others I think) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33748&item=2404371419

They'd make good winter wheels for a Marauder

If you are stuck on having those little Taxi caps you might try here

http://www.hubcaphaven.com/police.htm

also found these on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33744&item=2404400884

You'll need the special lug nuts too

Thanks for the input RC, afterall, I am using black steel wheels now. Nothing could be more ugly than than that. As far as e-bay, I ALREADY have 4 steel gran marquis wheels with snows mounted. I can't justify buying MORE wheels. No way!

Besides, I have the original wheel covers that came with my marquis gs from 4 years ago. I took 'em off the day I brought the car home.
You want frugly, THEY are that. Trust me, no one around here is gonna look at me any different than they do now, than with the saucers. And all I am trying to accomplish is to cover the rusty hubs, and tool around in my WINTER SKINS without appearing as though I lost all my hubcaps

I don't think you full caps from four years ago will fit the 2003 wheels anyway.

You are correct. With the 16' steel wheels from my '98 Marquis, only a full hubcap will work. Found that out today.

Thanks to all for the input. I will be using hubcaps if anything at all.

Your '98 steel wheels won't work quite right on your 2003

What exactly do you mean, "won't work"? They go round and round every day I drive with 'em?????

yes they'll go round and round :)

But the backspacing is different, and they'll protrude more than they should on a 2003

Yeah, I mentioned that in another thread. But I would assume EVERYONE utilizing 16" wheels for snows have this issue? yes/no?

They stick out but very slightly. Besides an inaccurate speedo, I notice nothing unussual about the ride. There is only the slightest sreering wheel shake at speeds over 75+, so I infrequently run over that speed, and cruise no more than 70.

Most people seem to have bought 2003 steel wheels which have the correct backspacing. With the older wheels you can get tire rub on your fender and quarter panel lip

that's why I posted the link to those 2003 Grand Marquis aluminum wheels, they look good, will fit properly, and are an excellent price for a set of four brand new

Oh well, thanks RC. I can't afford to do it over now. Any who...I don't get the wheel scrape on the MM, but oddly enough, I ALWAYS did on the Grand Marquis, and those wheels came off that car.

PS, gonna put those freaky OEM wheel covers on, if I feel queasy I gonna heeve them into the fire pit!

since you are using wheels from a '98, probably any 16" cap will work
