Alright I was just poking fun at those of you who think others who don't think like you are as bad as shooting the pope. Anyway heres my question: I just got a Weiand supercharger for my Blazer with a 350 small block. The thing doesn't wanna crank. It will go one spin then it will lock up in the same place reguardless of which way you spin it. I tried to take the thing back and the store says you cannot return superchargers. I said I never even drove the thing and it locks up. It was bolted on and when I started it, it died. We polished it and bolted it back on 8 times in one day! I said I don't wanna exchange it for a new one. I want my money back and am going to go with a different company. The people that sold it to me even told me it was on display at a car show the weekend before so something must have gotten into it. Anyway I was thinking of how much bull this sounds like and just want to get my money back and was told this isn't possible. :argue: What can I say to get out of this because something is really screwed up on how I got it and what I can supposly do about it. :bs:

You need to prove the Supercharger is faulty. They probably think you hooked it up wrong.

I don't really know how to prove that because I wasn't the one who installed it.

It spun OK before they installed it? Ask them if they read the direction's first and did they use a torque wrench? Oil?

Motorhead350,
Hope you used your credit card for this purchase. Contact your Credit Card Co. and get them involved. If you paid cash, then you need to contact your local Better Business Bureau or local gov't Consumer Affairs Office or take the company to small claims court. Choice is yours.
In any event, get those bastids!!! and demand better.

I was planning on contacting the BBB. The blower was fine until it was bolted on. When bolted down to the "correct" amount of pressure it grindes against something and locks up. I was watching it be installed for about hours so it wasn't the service, but the blower itself.

I don't really know how to prove that because I wasn't the one who installed it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you didn't get installation instructions with it either...
In big bold letters in the manual it says:
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL WEIAND SUPERCHARGERS:
While you are tightening the supercharger to the manifold, turn the supercharger driven pulley (which is the pulley attached to the supercharger) to make sure the supercharger does not bind up. Supercharger bind is caused by the blower case distorting when it is OVER-TORQUED. If the supercharger does bind, loosen the bolts or studs and retorque, following the same procedure.
There are more instructions on using feeler gauges to make sure it does not bind. The good news is that this is probably an easy fix to make you a happy camper. Just get them to read the manual and follow ALL the directions.
I was investigating putting a 6-71 on my 79 Ford Pickup and pulled the docs out when I read your plea for help.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, but it was making the grinding sound even before we bolted it on. I wasn't the one who read the instructions. The guy who installed it did. I was there because I wanted to learn how to do it. I'll find out about the return policy tomorrow. I'll post it for ya.

Sorry, I was basing my reply on the above.
Good luck and send pictures when you finish it!

well I got the replacement blower and the same thing happened again. I have decided to go with a different company. I'll say this...... this company makes them for Marauders too. Forget :censor: I'm getting a Vortech. Depending on how this one goes will determine what company to go with for the Marauder. :cool4:

I've been thinking about your problem and think you need to have someone check the levelness of the blower intake manifold. If both blowers bind after being bolted on and torqued, I would suspect that the intake is the culprit.
Remove that and all the gasket material and make sure that the surface that mates to the blower is truly flat. Then, get new gaskets and carefully bolt the intake to the motor watching the torque sequence. Check the surface with a straight edge again after the intake is torqued to make SURE it is still flat.
Check the blower to make sure it turns freely before trying to attach it to the intake. If so, then torque it to the intake checking for bind as you go.
Be sure to torque the blower in small steps. If it requires 25ft/lb, do it in 10, 18 25ft/lb steps checking to make sure it still turns freely.
Hope this helps!

It was making grinding noises and you went ahead and bolted it on ANYWAY?!

They were very minimual. When bolted on it just got worse. Like it wouldn't even crank. Thanks for the advice John, but the blowers were both sent back. I'm 281 miles away from it so I can't really work on it. I was thinking about the intake too, but the new blower came with a new one so I don't know why it's not happening. Anyway I'll post pics and e.t.s as soon as it gets rolling. The only downside is I have to wait 10 days for a pully kit! Also is it true that you have to "break in" a supercharger? I heard I would have to drive for 500 miles before I can go crazy. Is this true?

Weiand Superchargers go through a "break-in" at the factory before it ever ships to you. Other S/C's may or may not do this and you would have to check with their respective manufacturer.
