Since they have to replace the entire bag assembly, the list price from my dealer is $675!

Is this about the best I can do?

How did you dent it? Case of horn honking road rage? :argue:

If it's only dented in the center part of the emblem, I would suggest getting one of the Gods Head emblems to stick on there. That would cover up the dent and add style. :coolman:

Not at all! In fact I don't recall how it even happened. It is not easy to find the right spot to press.

Thanks for the idea. The dent is not small and it is off to the side. BUt I have an emblem that was generously given to me by SergntMac. I will see if it works

Thank you guys.

If not, just glue a Heineken bottle cap over it...that's sure to impress the local constabulary... :P :D

John, get the God's Head Sticker. It fits perfectly, and it's design and intent is to cover those gawdawful hockey sticks. ;)

I agree. I just ordered 4 from A3GR (Alan) and am waiting patiently for them. I also ordered two centercaps from the stealership ($70 Cdn ea. Ouch!) to do the front and rear badges. And I just ordered a set of valve caps from Wes. Am I going overboard on the God's head theme? :D

You can never go overboard with the "God's Heads", down with the Hockey Sticks/WaterFall logo.

Heck no. Any effort to cover up those rediculous looking hocky sticks is worthwhile. ;)

I did front and rear badges (godshead) Thanks Soulriot!and then I thought more would look too over the top.Though, anytime the hockey sticks can be replaced with the "God-0-Speed",It is hard to argue :P

I don't understand why Mercury just didn't do it right from the factory. To mix and match the logos probably just confused everyone looking at it. At least with the God's head, those that know what it represents will appreciate it. The ignorant people will wonder WTF is it?

YES !!!!!!!

I ordered 4 just in case. If it's something that's not readily available, I'll usually buy two or more. It's better to be safe than sorry. I'm not putting all 4 on the car at once. :D

I looked at the size of the dent on my emblem again and it looks big but not deep. The decal overlay may not work.

But I thought about drilling a hole (very shallow; otherwise I may damage the air bag) and put a heavy duty paper clip in the hole and hopefullly lift the dented section so that the new decal will fit smoothly over it.

Any thoughts about this?

Is this emblem simply held onto the wheel by tape of some sort? Thats what I think by looking at it anyway.

If it is, pry it off, pop it back out, reapply some fresh 2 sided tape

IF it is held by tape. Anyone know?

I don't know how it is held on. My dealer told me that in order not to damage the air bag I had to buy the entire assembly.

Someone out there will eventually have the same problem when you hit the horn to hard. So lets get a fix for this expensive problem.

It is an aesthetic eyesore!

I agree with Mike P., go with the Godshead emblem to cover up the hockey sticks on the steering wheel!!

John , Daniel from Colex Inc. ( One of our vendor's) was making a Marauder Emblem that fit's over the center cap of the steering wheel. Give him a call. 954-978-3880.

Mine was dented too...I bought an emblem from Car Motorsports. I dont know if they have any left, but they were quality at its finest and look great!

Anyway, I thank those contributing some new ideas.John...sometimes we get caught up in discussions and then realize the initial question is 1, 2 or 3 years old and probably not relevant anymore. We don't pay attention to post dates. Discussions can continue but it may be misleading to some, since previously posted information may be out of date. By saying "old thread alert," it's just pointing out an old thread.

Old threads means some are actually searching the archives!

It's held on by attached tabs folded through slots in the horn cover. I believe the horn cover is removable via the 2 screws behind the steering wheel.

And remember you're working near the airbag so disconnect your battery.
