Good day all,

I am new to the site but love my 03 M/M. I sit here when idle and read all of your threads and try and learn what to do and what not to do. :) I hope maybe one of you has run into this. My heater/ AC blower fan quit the other day. The AC pump still runs but the fan will not operate at any setting. This happened once before but started working the next day. I live in Fl and the temp is rising inside the car. :( Thanks in advance, Rob in the Panhandle

Don't laugh but I have 80,000 on my Marauder and I don't think the boys at the dealer would help much. What do you mean lots of help in my area?

A dealer or local Automotive HVAC Service Center, could connect a scanner to your Marauder
to read what was going on with the HVAC to determine if the problem is electrical or not.
Believe it or not, there is a computer running your HVAC Controls also...

80,000 miles ? That's all ?
There are members her that have 2 and 3 times that already !!!
I've got almost 28k on my 04 Marauder and its only 14 months old...

I've owned a few Fords and the blower fans went out in both of them. When the motor goes bad it will work when it wants to. Kicking it or tapping it with a hammer works wonders until you can get a replacement motor installed. If your warranty is out they are easy to replace...look for the round thing under your glove box after you remove the cosmetic plastic piece hiding it.

Ditto. For three thousand miles on my Crown Vic I carried a small screw driver with me so I can tap the motor with the handle every time it goes out :D

Also, when you replace the motor you will notice it blowing like it's never done before so brace yourself! A strong new motor is a very noticable difference over a motor thats been slowely going bad over a long period of time.

Super -Merc - Welcome aboard. :D I agree sounds like a faulty blower motor. The first thing I would check is blower motor for electrical power and go from there.

Welcome aboard. If you have a test light, see if you have power goin to the blower motor. and go from there.

Mine did the same thing on my '00 Grand Marquis at 30k miles. It ended up being a control box. The AC compressor would still come on but the blower wouldn't.

On the airbox under the hood, close to the intake is a connector plugged on the variable speed module. Unplug the connector and test the small connections for continuity with the HVAC fan set at LOW, HIGH and off. If this works, then the module may be bad. My module had a bad solider joint, which I was able to repair.

A quick temporary fix is to plug a 20amp blade fuse into the connector. This would cause the fan to run HIGH any time the key is on.
