I believe there is a plug already above the linkage for a temp guage.

The BEST place? Spliced into the cooler line running from the transmission TO the cooler. This will give you a reading where the fluid is the hottest. AutoMeter makes a nifty manifold kit w/fittings just for this purpose. P/N 2287.

Ok does Nordskog (http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntt=gauges&N=4294925227+400187&Ntk=KeywordSearch) have one of these kit's? Becuase thats the kind of gauges I have?

I don't know if Nordskog makes one...maybe check their web site. If they don't, since all the senders use the same threads I don't see why the AutoMeter manifold wouldn't work...or you can just use the tap above the shift linkage, as directedby suggested.
