Was driving down the Highway and noticed a plastic bag floating around each time a car passed it, by the time I reached it, I couldn't avoid passing over it because of the traffic. :( I look in the rearview mirror to see if it's still floating around and I don't see it.
At the stoplight I notice a burning smell, like rubber, and it's coming from underneath my car, I pull over to check things out and the :censor: "DAMN" bag has melted all over my exhaust "H" pipe. :mad2:
Is there a way of removing this from the pipe with minimal damage, I need some help on this, :help: Thanks

Best way to remove it is to replace it with an X-Pipe and some high flow mufflers.

Yeah I would say thats the BEST way to fix the problem :banana2:
I had that happen to my old Focus. I lived with it for about a month and couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't believe how tough that plastic was. When the pipes are hot and plastic was gooey I'd get under the car with a plastic ice scraper and scrape away. Pain in the @$$. Took a couple visits under the car before I got it all.

If it's really bothering you... it's often reported that oven cleaner can do the trick. However this is usually worked on chrome pipes. I've also heard WD-40 and a fingernail... again... chrome.

I used a gasket scraper to remove a plastic bag from my mother's car.
Just my .02 and then some.

Happened to me too and it burned away on its own. Did not take too long...

I ran over a plastic egg crate holder (12pk grade A) in my lowered mustang and the d@mn thing got wrapped around my driveshaft.
I couldn't figure out where the scrapping noise was coming from till I got under the car. Of course part of it melted to the shaft.

Windex removes anything.
And it stops you from running around naked.

Acetone will probably disolve it. Just make sure the pipes are COLD. Also be in a well ventilated area (like outside in your driveway) because the fumes can be bad.

I had it happen to my motorcycle... Granted my pipes were chrome and I was impatient and didnt want to see if it would burn off because it looked ugly. But I polished the chrome the best I could but to get the plastic off I ended up polishing to far into the chrome so the gold base coating (forget which metal it is) showed through. So I just bought new pipes. (this bike is sold now while looking for my next chopper)
Since its just on the h-pipe I would scrape as much as possible off and then let the rest burn away.

Acetone will not touch Polyethylene..... :o
Heat the exhaust up good....turn the engine off and spray cold water on it...then pull the poly off!! :bows: The cold water will "shock detach" the crud!! ;)
I had a bag glue itself to the side pipe on my Cobra and was worried about damaging the ceramic coating?? The company that coated them suggested the water deal and it works.....Just get the pipe good and hot before you spray it!! :)
