I decided to add some decals to my engine bay, as I've seen some other owners do.
Here's the rub -- Vinyl decals don't like to stick to the radiator cover, especially if you've been applying a dressing to it to make it nice and shiney. Even cleaning it off real good they still won't stick. I know this after dropping some bucks on decals that were ruined in the install process. Stickers work fine -- they have enough backing to work.
I stumbled across a fix for this. Apply the decal like normal, but don't remove the top part -- peel off the backing and stick it on the cover like it's a big sticker.
Leave it there a couple of days. After you've been out driving and come home on the third or fourth day, the top part of the decal will be very loose and ready to peel off. The heat from the motor will have caused the vinyl decal to set on the radiator cover. Just carefully peel off the top layer, and voila, a great looking die cut vinyl decal. I applied one to the radiator cover and the fuse box cover.
