After 2 months 2 weeks and 2 days I finally got my Marauder back from being fixed. As some of you recall my dad crashed it into a telephone pole and got a D.U.I. Ever sense the crash he hasn't had one drink. I found this shocking! :awe: The car doesn't seem the same though. I had a mirror replaced and the replacement was a different material that couldn;t be painted. I ordered a new one and will make the body shop that "fixed" the car pay the difference. Also I took it down the 1/4 mile track after an oil change and something weird happened. I got it to run only 15.7 and when there was about 100 feet left of the track the car wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. Still making a 15.7 run like when I first started racing it. The other weird thing is I used to to 15.7 @91mph. I ran a 15.7@85mph. So this tells me I'm at a better track, but the last 2 runs didn't shift into 3rd gear. The car is stock except for the air filter and I manually shifted it with the overdrive off. I drove it down the highway and made up to 100 with no problem later that day. The car now has 66,000 miles and never had the trans fluid changed. Could this be the reason?

Dude, glad you got your wheels back (finally), and I'm happy that your Dad seems to be doing OK as well.

I doubt the transmission fluid is causing your car to not shift into 3rd only at WOT, but you REALLY should get it changed before you DO have problems (and you WILL have problems if you don't change it soon)...every 30,000 is MAX for the 4R70W under normal driving, more often if your driving is "spirited"... ;)

Yeah, but this has never happened before and then again the car has never sat this long.

Next time you go to the track(try letting it shift itself) & see what happens?

Todays cars have an M.L.P.sensor down at the linkage. M.L.P.S. stands for "manual lever position sensor". It's sole purpose is to tell the computer "what gear" you have selected. So if your M.L.P.Sensor is slightly mis-adjusted, it's quite possible it wont shift(because the computer thinks you are still holding it in 2nd gear manually). Take it to a shop that can put it on a computer to check what the MLPS is reading? And let them adjust it if need be. Trust me, that was definately what happened to you.

Try this test yourself to see if its out of adjustment: Go for a ride & manually shift it again(& you don't have to beat it up), just drive "normal" but manually shift the car. (Shift it up to the next gear very softly) & see if it gets stuck in 2nd gear? If it does: continue to drive but "slap" the shifter up into "D" hard this time & see what happens? If still no shift, try pushing it up into "N" slightly & that will do it! If this works: you simply need to have the MLP adjusted!
