Only 11 thousand cars sold and someone remembered us for being the worst gas mileage car in large sedan class, go figure.

The story is full of crap, really. On several occassions, I've topped the reported 23 mpg. Other here have, too. The Malibu Maxx is a fullsize? The Celica is a sportscar? I'm starting to smell something...
:bs:
Oh well, at least it's funny to see the Insight won a compo vs. the GTO and the STI. You'll never see that, again! :D

Let's see now-------for less than $400 a year, I can enjoy driving a MM vs the chevy jelly bean. Boy, is that a tough call.
I bet I can get from gas station to gas station faster than that Malibu...

They seemed to have invented their own car categories. The EPA size class for the Phaeton is the same as the MM: Large Cars and the Seville is listed as a Midsize.
Exactly what I expect from the media. :censor:

The EPA size categories are based on interior room.

I remember reading somewhere on this website "you didn't buy a Marauder for the gas mileage".... :banana2:I guess it is all relative... but I get 25 mpg out of my MM at 70-80 mph. I am very pleased to be able to do that. My other cars.. 87 Starion gets 23... my 88 Turbocoupe 23... my Fairlane... who knows !

:trophy1: I'd like to thank the Academy for this fine award. I also want to thank all those who had a hand in making this fine production... Dennis R for introducing me to the modification treadmill (go on... try it... you'll like it. what's a couple c-notes anyway), SCT for making it all possible, Kooks for keepin' it real, and all the others out there without whom I could never have reached this pinnacle of achievement.

On a completely unrelated note... my office chair is made from an 87 Starion driver's seat. :D

So with all the whining about mpg and cost of gas I thought I coudl reset your perspectives.
I just finished a road course weekend with the Marauder, more on that in its own thread, and have the final tally for mileage, etc.
Sunoco 98 octane, required to prevent knock due to high, I mean el scorcho underhood temps (yes holding 13psi of boost for over a mile at 5500 rpm will do that). Know this golden elixer is offered for sale at $6.15..a gallon. Right, $3/gal for 93 seems, well, downright like a bargain.
Ah so mpg with our 98 octane go juice.... you'll be glad to know I managed a hair under 4 mpg. For Sebring, thats about a gallon a lap (3.7 miles once around). It was the most fun I've had in the Marauder to date, and worth ever freakin' penny!!
So, no more whining.

455 Quadrajet fed cubes of old school detroit steel, weighing in at 4660 without a driver.
Many an oil company executive retired quite comforatbly back in the days when cars like this were on the roads every day.
A MM sips gas like a Moped compared to this.

I'm amazed that they would even pay any attention to the Marauder. What about our five star rating for front end and side collision safety? How about the general overall safety of our cars. The Marauder gets 17 MPG city and 23 MPG highway. That's not so bad when you consider the size, utility, safety, and performance of the Marauder. My wife's 1994 SHO, which is a much lighter car (about 3500-3600 lbs) with a Yamaha V6 DOHC engine, gets 18-19 MPH around town and about 26-30 MPG on highway trips. These cars are not like the Ford Excursions that only get 9-11 MPG. The only thing that hurts a little is the premium gas, that both my cars require. But I knew I needed premium gas when I bought these cars.
*
But, we all need to remember that we did buy our cars, despite the few negatives. I love both of my cars! My SHO is now 12 years old (with only 72,000 miles), so it'll probably go first. When the SHO is eventually traded in or sold privately, it will probably be for a new Ford Fusion 221 HP V6 (regular gas) sedan for my wife to drive. But I have no plans to sell my Marauder. I only drive like 18 miles a day round trip. I only have like 10,400+ miles on my Marauder since new at 06/05/04. I've had absolutely no warranty problems with my Marauder so far. I enjoy driving my Marauder every chance I get. My wife is a little afraid of 'big red', so she hardly drives it at all. My little grand daughter loves 'big red' a lot though. But most of all, did I mention that I love my Marauder!!!
