Bradley GThis may sound lame but I have never raced any of my cars at a track before.

BUT I have wanted to do this for quite a while. Really, I have.

And this will be the year I get out there and give it a try.

So where is Byron Dragway exactly? If its not too far I might be up for it.

Not lame at all Dude!

My bro-in-law has a '93 lx hatchback Mustang with a 408 stroker, With the right
tune and driver he may have a high ten second car.Never raced it at the strip. He has a '70 GTO 400 all done up. (big stall) and never raced it, or anything for that matter and he is 39 years old.
I infected him a couple weekend ago,by letting him drive my Marauder. He confessed to me later,He almost chickened out,After he got behind the guy in the staging position. It was too late to turn back. LOL
So come out and get ready to be flogged with attention .
It is near Rockford IL.
Maybe someone who knows how to drop a link to thier website on my thread feel free!

hey svtguy,

From my location all the area dragaways are about the same distance.
Greatlakes union grove wi. Byron near Rockford, and rt 66 in joliet il. area.
Sorry to learn you can't make it.
How about the other Windy City guys?
For a large Metro area, Our group seems to be as "iffy" as the weather.
Can't g o? that's cool !Don't race ? thats OK ! Don't give a ship?!
Just like to hear from the group?:P

Just returned from Byron Dragaway.

Was not sure if we would get to race,it started raining early AM.
I rewashed the car,Because I did not get a chance to do a complete job as it was getting dark the night before.
It also rained on and off lightly all the way(60 mi.) to Rockford Il.Once we arrived,
I had a real good feeling when we ( my bro-in -law)went to the prep area to get registered. I was issued my favorite # (#31)
We had to wait almost two hours for the track to be prepped.
Thier were three other groups there;Chicago Lightnings, pro Rail dragsters and Buick Grand Nationals. We Waited another hour while watching the larger Groups race.
By about 1:00 pm We finally got our chance and both of us in the car ripped off a 14.3@95mph
I was pleased to be .3 faster than my previous best with a passenger handicap.
We got tons of attention and compliments from other racers, and even the announcer!
Over the loudspeaker I could hear the the MC saying "Welcome Brad Sinclair from Barrington with a 2004 Mercury Mar-rau-der , thank you for joining us today"I responded with a burnout into second holding almost redline for several seconds and soaring into the stage area wheel wells a blazing.I hear him say" way to get that tank moving!"I followed up with my best run yet 2.09 60' and 14.1 @97.23 hot lapping:coolman:
Some really cool cars the fastest I saw went 8.08 @ 179 mph and a parachute
all the rail dragsters bracketed @ 8.90's.
One of the regulars told me, if they did not use the throttle stops they would turn near eight flat or 7.90's:censor:

A great day and I talked to some really nice folks.Handed out tons of mm.net cards too!
Who's going to ST. Louie in two weeks?

I would like to thank Barry Cruztaker for his headlamp removal trick:bows: I feel since this is the only thing that was different than other runs I have made recently ,I have got to believe the headlamp socket drawing the fresh air from front had to be the difference.
Thanks Barry! I owe you pal.
