I was just up at Diablo again today. They have been bending over backwards for us local guys lately.
I do not know exactly why you cannot change the gear ratio. Go into install performance tune, modify, modify gear ratio then install, or something like that. Are you saying that the gear ratio selection does not come up?
The Predator does a lot of different things, it is easy to get a little confused. I have been data logging for several days.
In any case, I will pm you email address of exactly who to contact to resolve this.

By the way, Diablo has been doing a lot of tuning on several different Marauders the last few weeks. They are going to be updating their Marauder files very soon, for the better!

I won't get into all the difficulty I had update/changing software for the 4:10's.I drove over a month with the descrepancies.
After advice from members ,I mailed my tuner to Lidio @ Alternative Auto.
Got it back in about a week.:banana2: Rock and Roll!
Bradley G
So I did my gear swap from 3.55 to 4.10 on April 12th, 2005 and since April 3rd I have been trying to work with Diablosport about gear change abilities. In the owners manual it has a screen shot allowing me to change gears, one of the main reasons I bought the Predator, so on April 2nd I plug it in to make sure it is there. Well it isn't.
I send an E-mail and get a reply, telling me to update my software on the tuner. No problem, why didn't I think of that before? It makes sense. So I have everything I need to update it and I revise the version to r50d which is still the newest. I plug it in and check. Nope, not there.
I send another E-mail explaing what happened and I was given a phone number to contact the person in charge of the tuning for the Marauder. I call the next business day around 2pm and the guy has stepped out for the day. I call the next day, a little earlier, has again stepped out for the day.
I ask if someone else could help me and I explain the problem again. They advise me a new version of software will be out Tuesday April 11th to address this issue. GREAT! I wait and on the 11th, it isn't there. I check the 12th, nope not there either. I call again and obviously the person I'm looking for has left for the day again (wtf..) so I talk to someone else. I explain the problem and tell him I was told that Tuesday there will be a new software revision out, which didn't happen and I was confused. He puts me on hold. Comes back about 2 minutes later and says:
Him: "Yeah, we don't know what is going on with that."
Me: "What do you mean? Is it coming out?"
Him: "Well I think they're working on it, but I don't know."
Me: "I would hate to switch programmers, I really like the Predator."
Him: "Yeah, check back in a couple days and it should be up."
Me: "Ok, great, thank you."
Well it is April 21st, far past "A couple days" and no update. I've been driving around for over a week with a speedometer that is off 10 MPH @ 60 MPH and there isn't anything I can do about it. Not to mention I have been tailed by cops far more often than usual.
I don't know what to do here...I did the gear swap after talking with tech support and being assured that the problem will be addressed in the next revision which was to be released a day before I even did the swap and it wasn't :argue:

Do you have the radio shack computer cables?
If so just ask for the Marauder file with the changed gear ratio. It can be emailed, downloaded, and installed very easily. That will get you by until the update comes out. I have been giving them some feed back in other areas, so they will probably add your problem to the list.

Yeah I've got the cables, 10-4
Tell the guy you email to change the Performance Marauder tune to the gear ratio you want, email it to you, then upload it, problem solved. If I know him like I think I do he may even update a couple of things in it for you. :)

Not to flame you guys you already have your gear,I want to be assured that the tune for my car is debugged from the glitches I was experiencing with my first tune.
When dealing with a professional like Lidio,He has the Knowledge /experience and he actually has a mutual passion for this machine.
He owns and races his Marauder (currently the Fastest Marauder reported in the timeslips forum)
He is a Major contributor here, with his generous ability to explain every facet of his tune.I am sending my tuner to him again for some more variations right now!:coolman:

First of all you have SCT, and were not talking about the software performance tune, but the physical tuner here.
Scott Beer of Diablo is also very experienced, and has worked on the Trilogy Marauder tuning project in the past. Might want to ask Lidio or JB about that. Scott now works at Diablo and is upgrading a lot the old software files, Marauder included, and has been spending a lot of time on our local Marauders lately.
Scott might not drive a Marauder, but he is always driving test cars Diablo is doing tuning on for research. He personally owns a Swedish Koenigsegg race car, look it up on the web, and has been playing around with the engine and such lately. Maybe Lidio can race his Koenigsegg for pinkslips.
The software talent at Diablo is just as good as can be found elseware, and the hardware is much better. Rider simply has a hardware problem that is being addressed and can be rectified for now with an email.

Glad to hear that Diablo works on these issues. But, I still think I am going to sell mine to get an Xcalibrator or and Xcalibrator2. The latest r50d update, has made my shift into O/D to firm, it actually shudders into O/D.

I know little about Diablo, and have never met Scott.
I know not of his work or his ride.I share a similar experience to Rider 90, trying to install my tune to correct for 4:10's.
Sometimes great products are not necessarily backed by the same great service.
Rider 90's rant rang a familar note as I read his post.Is this an example of what you would call good service?
If the tune is an e-mail tune, how is it custom?Unless it is tuned to maximize your mods.
Soft,.. hard,... where? ,the ***** don't work! No one else knows? He's not here!
And about the race with the swedish go cart, you'll have to ask Lidio!;)
Bradley G
Aw nuts.:( I just picked up my Marauder from the shop with a new set of 4:10's installed and went to program in the gear change with my Predator and experienced the exact same thing Ryder 90 reports.
The users manual leads one to believe the predator has that capability. A review of their data base reveals their management states the predator has that cabability with no additional updates. What the hey......? :censor:
I have a query in on two forums, diablosport.com and Modular Fords.com
Looks like my blood pressure is going up.:mad2:
Het there Rider 90, would you share that name and e-mail address with me?

Sorry guys but I'm not trying to get involved in a potential mud slinging here but Scott Beer, currently with Diablo was not involved with the Trilogy blower for the Marauder in any way. Not with the hardware or the tuning that I'm aware of.
At one time a couple of years ago when Scott still worked with Pro-M (no longer in business as of a couple of months ago) we looked at their poor attempt (Pro-M's/Best Products) to get involved in custom tuning software. I looked at it for a few days and decided that it wasn’t right for me and my shop and later on I proceeded to go with SCT and never looked back.
Not to continue to dig, but rear gear changes are very easy and arbitrary tuning that shouldn’t be a problem for these guys.
Thanks

I never mentiond diablow, I don't know Scott:confused: Just sharing experiences with the membership.
I just feel sometime we get caught up in "which is best" ,and forget any product is only as good as it performs in the field.
Thanks for clearing that up Lidio, their is a lot of myth in this area,Thank you for your honesty and your integriity. Thanks to the members who spoke of thier "real world" experiences.Good luck Rider 90 & Pat,I hope you are able to get squared away with Diablo so you can start to enjoy your new power!

Pat, our mods are next to the same except rear tire size (I have 255/55/18) so I can just send you the tune he sends me. Only thing you would need to modify are the tire revs per mile, and I have that number written down somewhere for you. He is making the tune for me based on testing numbers he has experienced with the same or similar mods as: K&N cold air, 4.10 gears, the predator tuner, and for me - the larger rear tires. I'm expecting a 0% power gain with his tune, but I just want my speedo fixed...
Predator tunes are locked to your VIN number so you cant use one file for two different VIN numbers.
Bradley G
04-23-2005, 08:37 AM
I'm expecting a 0% power gain with his tune Quote
Why is that?
What is meant by "TUNE" if no timing A/f changes are made?
If thier is no changes to the engine management,Would'nt that be just a recalibration for the gear change?

From what I have read our EEC is capable of adjusting A/F for the minor changes that the Conicle filters require.
Bradley G
All he told me is to send him my original backup and a list of everything I've done to my car. He will calibrate the tune for the 4.10 gears, and probably recalibrate the A/F based on the common increase/decrease of the 4.6L DOHC A/F when swapped from a closed box to an open conical filter. There has to be a common A/F ratio for our specific engine after an open conical filter swap.

CJ did mention, after the dyno test on the JLT kit, that my A/F ratio was borderline lean @ high RPM's.I think he said 13.2:1 or so.CJ also stated that a Dyno tune could return the ratios back to optimum/safe range and smooth out any dips in the power curve.Short of a custom dyno-tune Lidio mentioned he could back off the timing a bit and see how it responds .The EEC can adjust timing only so far.
Lidio mentioned that the EEC normally can compensate for the increase in air supply. In my case I have a few other bolt ons that may be pushing me a bit lean on the top of the curve.
I am getting a couple of new programs from Lidio,But I am a little ways away from spilling the details.

At one time a couple of years ago when Scott still worked with Pro-M (no longer in business as of a couple of months ago) we looked at their poor attempt (Pro-M's/Best Products) Why are you using a Pro M MAF in your signature then ? to get involved in custom tuning software. I looked at it for a few days and decided that it wasn’t right for me and my shop and later on I proceeded to go with SCT and never looked back. There is a lot more to this story but this forum is not the place.

This thread was started ref. Diablo tuning, and as usual has turned anti-Diablo. Why is that? $$$$$$$$$

This and other situations makes me glad that I only use the best.
If they can't fix your problem, then they shouldn't be in business or claim anything other than the facts.
Their integrity is at stake so I would hope they can figure this out. If they can't play the game than they should sit on the sidelines.

To sum this up, I think the people at the front line of Diablosport's tech were not helpful at all. The plus side is now that I am deeper into the staff and the actual developer, I have a name and contact info for us, so we do not have to deal with them.
Give them a little time. We all know that the Marauder is a limited production car, so it is not like it is the bread and butter of any tuning company, but actually a small segment compared to the thousands of mustangs and trucks sold every year. Even so, Diablo has been bending over backwards for the local members in FL. Due to the recent interest they have even committed themselves to overhauling everything Marauder related, tunes included. The next Marauder update to their performance tune should be much better due to all the Marauders they have had on their dyno lately. And they are doing this because they are cool and into providing a good tune, even though future large profits are obviously not in the picture ref. the Marauder. Kudos to them!
And yes, the Predator should be able to change gear ratios, this is something that will be rectified soon. Just remember the Predator is a very complicated tool, does allow the user to do a variety of things and make a lot of changes, and has been out longer than any other handheld tuner on the market with the same features. Is it perfect? There is always room for improvement. I only hope the other companies come out with something just as good or better, that way as car freaks we all win.
Glad to hear they helped you out!
For Rider 90, do I understand you correctly, you anticipate getting the updated file via e-mail in a few days?
For TMAC thanks for the info. :)

For Rider 90:
I received an e-mail from Scott beer saying that he will make sure the company
has a new tool revision out as soon as possible. I also received an e-mail from Diablosport requesting I e-mail them my tune so they can modify it to reflect an axle gear change. Much like what you report. Although I don't understand why they want my stock tune. Are you sure it's the stock tune as you state? The reason I question this is because the dealer had me reload my stock tune back into the car before he plugged it in for the 50D download.
I e-mailed scott back this AM and asked that he notify me when the formal revision is posted to their web page.
Another name for your ever growing files - Adrian at Diablosport seems to be the actual programmer.
I will wait and let you do your car and see how it goes, if you don't mind.

Scott Beer will be working on my Marauder this Saturday doing a final safe custom tune. Last time I was their I got 20 RWHP & 11 LBS. of Torq added to my numbers. The car runs great. Scott & the staff their have been great to us down here . The Sunshine State Marauders will be having a Dyno Day at DiabloSport some time in the near future & a day at the track with DiabloSport too.

Do you guys think I would benefit more from a Dyno'd tune in my car, or just what Scott is sending me based on my mods?
I know you have read all the posts from people who jump up and down with joy after dyno days or tuning with Lideo or DR or Diablosport and others too many to mention.
Your just looking for reassurance I'll bet. Soooo...... Get that dyno tune and join the ranks of those that jump up and down with joy.
I'm going to Houston in the summer for my tune (gotta save up, ain't cheap, travel, hotel, cost of tune and labor and WB fees).
Good luck.

Do you guys think I would benefit more from a Dyno'd tune in my car, or just what Scott is sending me based on my mods? I'm no expert but this is what I think, Scott is a excellent tuner in my opionion. Every car is a little different, so if you put your Marauder on a Dyno you have a better idea what you have and where you can go too in a tune. But the key is finding a person with the knowledge like Scott too do the Dyno tune. If Scott is sending you a tune you can be sure it's a good one, you should be very Happy.

If your car is NA the returns are not as great over a performance tune you already have. When the improved performance tune you receive is installed it should be even better than the one you have now based on the additional Marauder time Scott is getting lately.
I would just use his tune, and avoid the pain of going to tuners who claim they have tuning knowledge.

Well, this thread has certainly taken a turn. Ryder90 deleted all of his posts????.
Anyway, I chose not to download the file via e-mail to fix the speedo error as a result of gear change for personal reasons. Instead Scott allowed me to send my Predator to him at Diablosport and he would update the program. He turned it over to his able programmer Adrian and the tuner was updated and returned to me @ no cost. The speedo is now corrected, so I'm happy, I assume Ryder90 is happy, the whole world is happy except for Txmarauder who got waxed by a Transam on his first time out with his Trilogy. However, Txmarauder will be avenged and he can become happy too. Darn, what's in this apple juice?
