If you have the ZEX kit and mounted the purple box under the hood, would you kindly post some pictures of your installation?
I've got my engine bay cleaned and ready today but want to compare notes before I start drilling anything.
Thanks in advance!

My bad! ZEX is a 'wet' Nitrous Oxide kit and the name of the company (a division of CompCams). There is a purple control box that has the relays for controlling the fuel and nitrous. Two nipples [stop it!] on either side of the box and three wires.
I'm just curious how others mounted this control box and plumbed the braided hoses.
Also, after reading the instructions thoroughly [see Mac, I don't know -everything- :D ] it says that the lines should be purged after usage to relieve the the pressure. What it does not say is that nitrous is very corrosive and you need to let that out. The guy who filled my bottle last night was very helpful and put me through nitrous 101, so to speak. He was the one that recommended the purge as well as told me about operating temperatures etc.
We have a local connection now for those coming to CFR that need to fill a bottle, just in case.
If you have plumbed a purge system to your car, pictures of that will work as well.
Cheers!
John

John I beg your forgiveness, but the Bottles I have seen have always been mounted in the trunk.I cant see any fitting under the hood unless it was a cheater type which I believe is much smaller.
I can't see that having much capacity 1 or 2 1320's ?

The bottle mounts in the trunk, the control box mounts under the hood. It is the control box pictures I'm looking for.
Cheers!

PS: Sure hope you can make it to the CFR meet in May!

John Mine was mounted under (up side down) my PHP air box and my purge was mounted on my radiator support under my radiator cover. I wanted to be sneaky and hide mine. I don't think I'm hiding the supercharger.http://www.mercurymarauder.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45 99

I saved my full-size spare cover and I think it will lay right over them!
But, since I don't -have- a wifester... I just have to hide it from the dealers!
Cheers!

Hey John if you just go in and glare and scowl enough at the service manager it works well. :)
When should I come over?

I'm going to work on it for a while tonight running the lines and mounting the bottle etc. I'll be up around 8 and waking up till 10 so anytime after that is fine!
See you tomorrow.

Hehehe...I never expected to see such commentary posted here from you, John, thank you for this feedback. OTOH, I have always thought of you as a "hardware" guy too, and I never expected any hardware guy to resort to laughing gas. I was sure you liked it all "on motor."
I expect you will do very well with this NOS upgrade, John, please keep us up to date on your 1320 results?

Good luck and I can't wait to see the final results...........well ok it's less than a month before I'll get to see your setup. :burnout:

I have always thought of you as a "hardware" guy too, and I never expected any hardware guy to resort to laughing gas. I was sure you liked it all "on motor."Yes, I am more of an "on motor" kind of guy. I've got my 460 sitting in the garage getting ready to turn it into a 557 and I'd like to have a 6-71 and a pair of 600 Holleys on top. Only then will I find another Marauder to bolt it into. Believe it or not, the 460 is actually a -smaller- motor dimensionally than the 4.6. It will fit!
Course, there will be the tell-tale hole in the hood with the carbs and 3" belt sticking through... Maybe the ricers won't notice it!
I'll keep everyone posted on my progress today and take a bunch of pictures of the install.

I like where you put your tanks, but I have mine on the lift and looked up under the car... Exactly how close do those bolts get to the gas tank? It looks like they would go right through it and I don't want to drill.
For now I'm going to mount the tank in the trunk well and sell my organizer (PM me if anyone is interested) and mount it on the left side. I'll mount the second tank on the rght side and leave room in the middle for an Ice Box and Batteries.
Maybe later I might move them up to the shelf if I can figure out how to get them mounted and not wreck a gas tank.
Let me and others know how ya did it!
Thanks!

john I used very large rivits with rubber between the bottle mounts and the truck so they wouldn't rattle. I was careful not to drill quickly and go past the shelf floor. I was also very concerned about hitting the air ride lines or what ever else is under there, but I didn't have any problems and I used four bottles over six months. The down side is reaching for the bottles when a change out is required.
My spare tire cover covered them perfectly.
Who would have thought there are two 10lbs. bottles under there.

Not to criticize your chioce of location,I like it up on the shelf better.
I guess it will take great care to get the bracket installed on the shelf.
Is thier enough room on the shelf for the battery and two bottles?

If you pull out the factory subwoofer, there is a lot more space. I think though to fit a battery and two N02 bottles the spare might need to be moved.

Last step...
Which wire is the Output Voltage Lead on the TPS? I'm down to wiring now and everything else is plumbed up.
Thanks in advance!

Cool, so if I tag the middle one I should be good to go!
Everything else is done.... I'll post later tonight after testing.

Now I'm wondering if that is right. I'm not 100% sure now, like I was before you through that middle one in there. Sorry. Some one should jump in soon.

#2 was correct! After doing all the wiring it correctly activates on WOT only.
And, all I can say is WOW! This is the first time it's ever smoked them through first, into second and I lifted cause I was haulin' azz!
I put the 75 shot jets in for several reasons:
1. I don't have my Nexus (http://hp.autometer.com/products/nexus/index.html) gauges in yet (on order) for Fuel and NOS pressure. I don't want to just guess what my line pressures are.
2. The last time I got a tune was MV I and I need to have it on a dyno and checked before stepping up to 100 or 125. Better safe than sorry.
3. I need accessories! A good purge kit, a second bottle and some 45 degree 3AN fittings in purple to really make it look right under the hood.
Otherwise, the instructions were good (not great) but understandable. As this thread has shown there are holes in the documentation that had I known which wire to tap etc I would have been done long before 10:30pm
I wish to thank ALL OF YOU who chimed in with info when I was lacking! Thanks gang!
While just cruising tonight I run into a pack of really nice looking Chevy and Mopar guys sitting by the road and Andrew (I just -had- to get another MM'er out tonight) pulled in. Turns out they were the over 30 crowd too out to piss off the ricers! We're standing there introducing ourselves and they are locals who go out with their wives and girlfriends just to hang. 2 68 Camaros (both with slicks), a nice 70 El Camino, also with huge meats, hell all of them were built for the 1320 and most had roll cages etc. All restored and all sounding mean as hell.
How mean? I ran back to my house because I'm the only one standing around without a coat and it decides to drop down to about 37 out. I grab the coat and meet them back at the parking lot. Just as I pull in they are all getting in their cars and Tom comes over to me and says,
"We're heading out behind the airport to take som action shots, would you like to tag along?"
"Hell yes!"
So, the 12 of us all head out north of town to a blacktop that is as straight and flat for about 1.5 miles and no houses. I didn't even know it existed.
So, we all pull off on the side and the only non-strip car pulls a 180 onto the shoulder of the other side and aims his brights onto the road. A crowd gathers on that side of the road and several of them pull out camcorders and we proceed to have a burnout contest!
Unbelievable! Those big-block rats sounded sweet!
I get my turn... I open the cutouts, arm the spray and powerbrake it a little to get the tires warmed up. Then I stand on it! And I was worried I was not going to show up... No worries there and when I got back to the pack they were all asking the questions. What's in there? Man, that sounds nice!
Hey, if I can get compliments from these guys I know it must have been good. I just gotta get a copy of one of those videos!
It's late and I'm tired so I'll check back in tomorrow.

What it does not say is that nitrous is very corrosive and you need to let that out.
Most nitrous lines are braided stainless steel which means they wont rust.

First, stainless can rust. Second, rust is not the only way that something can corrode.
