I heard a few make the comment that I may have been the cheapest at $16,000 so far. If thats true, can I get the Marauder 'el cheapo' award. I promise I'll pass it on to the next guy who gets one for less :trophy1:

Being a member of the 'el cheapo' club means you don't wanna to go to a Sonic and hang out...we perfer something cheaper like Taco Bell :)

We will fill up on premium on '7 cents off Tuesdays' at the local gas station.

Also, we buy used parts off other MM owners instead of new when at all possible.

Anything else? :cool4:

I paid 19.5 for mine a year ago with 14k. I felt like I stole it then. I would have paid more. I have really considered trading it in the past, but I can't think of anything I would rather own, so I just supercharged it.

I think my Marauder is a life long member of the family.:P

Anything else? :cool4:Wes is right, some of us got great bargans on new ones; but I'll agree you're the hands down champ for a used one. How many miles were on it, when you "stole" it?

Also, I'm guessing there are going to be some great bargans when the lease ends on a bunch of 'em. :D

In what way did that happen????
Price I paid >>> price others paid

15.5k$ for 63Kmiles
16K$ for 65kmiles
19.5k$ for 14Kmiles
22.7k$ for 7.8Kmiles

All better deals than I got! (Somebody call the Waaahhhhhmbulance!! :bigcry: )

Mine has 55K and I paid uh, a figure that is too embarassing to mention here.

Now, to be serious:

As I said in the other "price thread" that I responded to today, I had NO IDEA that location was so important.

I did a lot of research before I bought mine. I couldn't find any private sellers, only dealers.

2004s were all 28K or so, with low miles
2003s with under 10K were all 26-28K
2003s with 10-20K were all 24-26K
2003s with 20K-30K (didn't see any)
2003s with over 40K 22K (after a lot of talking, didn't buy that one)

Part of my problem was that my maximum was about 20K, so a brand new one for 23 or so, would have been out of reach, despite that being a killer deal.

I ended up with one with 55K, and less than showroom paint. The interior is very good, and it's even better after "The Dealer's" help. (Inst. cluster lens, window switch bezels, etc.)

I'm saving up to paint it blue! (would that be heresy? Would I get in trouble? Would the bumper covers and grill be problematic?)

If I had known, I'd have traveled to get a better deal.

I love the car and wouldn't consider getting rid of it for anything.

I suspect that eventually, the value of these will go up, especially for those who don't drive their cars in rain, snow, hail, etc.

No real worries. All in good fun.

Wires, I ran into the simular problem with price in my local area. Everyone was out of my price range around here. Because I already have a hefty car payment with the 350z I had to find a 'cheap' one if I was going to have one at all.

After much serching I found ONE in the state that was in my price range and I begged the sales rep to tell me honestly what shape it was in before I drove for hours to get to him. He told me it was mint, I went up there, and it was indeed in great shape. I could have hugged the sales rep I was so happy.

I had been searching for about 2 months before the perfect price and condition made itself known.

$20,700 for a new 03-300a last april 2004.Now that's just mean!!!!!!

Just for some perspective, Around that time, maybe a month or two later, I couldn't buy a new CV LX-sport for less than 25.

So, aparently, with hindsight being 20-20, I should have tried to get a "leftover" 2003 when the 2004's were first out. Did anyone know that there wouldn't be a 2005 at that time?

I got mine all the way up in Kennesaw at Pugmire a few weeks back. The drive up there was long and boring but the drive back was exciting (was in the MM then :) )

I've only seen one here in town and that was before I got mine and it is a DTR. I've seen it at the movie theater and the mall down here in WR. Haven't seen or more likely noticed any others around.

We will have to get a middle Georgia chapter going :D

I know nothing of Pugmire so your not hurting my feelings! I saw the car on their website and autotrader and drove up there and handed them a check. They did try to convince me to finance through them (NOT!) and then tried to sell the car I was signing the papers on to someone else who was financing through them. They tried to 'persuade' me to look at a more expensive one so the other guy could get the cheaper one (NOT x2!)

Got a whole MM clan around me and never knew it

As I recall, the full ticket on BDJ's repaint was more than $6000 (his was done under warranty). So, your $20K car will be more like $26K-27K after the paint job. You might have been able to find a genuine Blue MM for that price. :D Heck that's what I paid for mine new with 54 miles on it.

If I'd have seen a blue or red one, my history would have been different.

Seing as how I can't go back in time, an additional 6K might be worh it to get it painted the color of my choice. (even though it would lower my standing in the "good buy" club, balance that with the fact that I would have a blue 300A.

OR, that same 6K would get my car to Dennis with enough left over for some nice goodies......

They actually tried to screw me. It was that deal or i could do another 3500 off the 26.9 but then i would have 4.5% interest and i had him figure it on the payment plan and when all was payed with the interest i would have payed close to 30k for the car. so i told him to do the 0% plan and that was all i said and by the time he was done and told me to sign he added destination fees, dealer prep fee, advertising fee, and extended service plan. I asked him why he added all those charges and he said he thought that is what i wanted and i never said a word about anything to be added. so i told him to forget it and walked out and he came after me and said he was sorry and took everything off and gave me free oil changes for 2 years. No wonder car sales people have such bad raps.

Company cars while being great for the driver(owner) should NOT be linked to
OWNER(drivers) due to the lack of personal negotiation and actual monetary purchase. IMHO.

Cost consideration STILL has to have bearing on the issue. Namely, 'how much did the prime purchaser pay' initially?? That number could be considered.

I love company cars...had 'em for nearly 40 years. Best and latest was the Dodge Intrepid. Too bad I didn't have my choice of vehicles. Can you imagine the possibilities of 'carte-blanc' in choosing any one of the WORLD'S finest automobiles to drive and enjoy for the for the duration of your employment.
However long or short as that may be....
