I am looking for some information about the Marauder stereo. I'm sure someone has pulled their head out (no pun intended) and replaced it with an aftermarket unit. Can anyone tell me if they have heard of any successful installations of the MM stereo going into an older model Crown Vic (2001)?

I know that there are issues with clearence from the ventilation ducting running through the dash. My factory unit is a double DIN faceplate with a 1-1/2 din in the back for clearence of the ducting. If anyone has any ideas about re-locating the ducting, I would appreciate it.

Another concern is the plugs on the back of the unit. Do the plugs match what I have below?

Has anyone run across any place where you can buy plug adapters to go from mine to the Marauder head unit?

Any input would be appreciated.

Todd

Todd,

is that a Kenny Brown P1 or just a Panther sticker?

will you be getting rid of your CV radio... I had a problem installing a unit out of an Explorer because it needed an AMP, do you think one of these will fit a PI and actualy play good?

No KB here...can't afford it. Picked up the 'Sport for $19K with 1350 miles on it last June.

Panther logo was "borrowed" from KB logo, then customized a bit in PhotoDraw then sent out for custom vinyl decals. ;)

I'm not sure if I'll be getting rid of my factory unit. It should fit the PI, unless they didn't include some of the plugs. Mine is a AM/FM/cassette with CD changer controls (factory mounted in trunk just like the MM), but I would like the MM head unit because it also has a single CD option up front along with the cassette.

lol... you didn't have to modify the Panther logo, KB borrowed it from www.Antera.it (or so I think)

Yes, it was from a wheel manufacturer in Italy correct? I did go out to their website and start with that, but it was just easier to copy the one from KB. All I did was change the text below the panther logo.

It will fit with alteration to the duct work. I don't know how you'll accomplish that.
The connector is different as well. You'll need a Metra 70-1771 adapter to plug in your harness, spliced to an adapter to fit the radio, Last I checked the new adapters weren't out yet. According to Metra the new adapter should be 70-5520 or 71-5520. You'll have to confirm that

Thanks for the info RC! Would you happen to have a phone number of web address for Metra?

Greatly appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Thanks RC! I stoppped at a Best Buy today, and they told me to bring both decks in so they could order the right plug adapters. I will give them the Metra p/n's to help things along.

I realize there will be clearence issues with my ventilation ducting, so I may have to rip into my dash a bit to move things around.

Thanks for your help!

HookedOnCV,

I have posted some pics of the MM audio system in the tech gallery. The file names start with MM_ They include the back of the dash unit. Don't think the CV can use the MM unit. Or vice versa.
