I just got off the phone with Tire Rack,to find that they only have 1,OEM front tire. They were very nice and gave me the number to BFgoodrich to log my complaint.
? where do we get tires

Tire Rack informed me that they have an order with BFgoodrich but they have set no date for production.

There are over 20 choices of tires in the the size of 235/50/18. The only problem is that there are no other choices for the rear. If worse comes to worse, buy their only tire left, mount your spare (if it is as new as the other), and keep the best of the pair as your spare.

I presume you were searching for an exact replacement tire in our stock BFG/KDWS sizes. But, have you checked for availability in our stock sizes, in the new BFG/KDW2? I think this is the replacement tire of choice.

Remember that the Marauder is discontinued, and if no other automobiles call for the tire size we use from the factory, quite naturally the tire will come to be discontinued too.

Best to look for options in size, and manfacturer. There are a whole lot of high performance tires we can use, and most will probably be an improvement over what came stock.

Discount Tire is also out of stock on the fronts. None in any of their four warehouses.:dunno:

Bingo. I ran mine on my 83 Mustang until this most recent set. Coker tires bought the molds and wants $250 per tire. I bought a set of 5 spoke pony wheels and stacked the TRXs in the corner. The Mustang sees nothing but abuse.

Doesn't the new GTO use the same size tire as ours?

I hope they don't discontinue them but it wouldn't suprise me.

I think that the GTO has P245/45-17 tires...

I just broke down and ordered KDW2 tires for front and rear from Tire Rack via mm.net site link. 235/50/18 for the front and 255/55/18 for the rear. Loaded up the Visa card, but my rears are waaaaaay bald and the fronts maybe could squeak by another few weeks at best. Wish me luck!

...uuuummm.... can i consider expensive new tires a "mod" ?:D

I have two front tires to sell. They had about 8000 when removed. I wanted some I could rotate so I went with the rear size all around.

Let me know rctd@mindspring.com Rob

Hi all,

I recently bought a pair of rear tires for my Marauder from a vender on e-Bay. Here is a link to a couple of more he has for sale. I gave $175 plus shipping for the pair. Apparently they have gone up on the price a bit. < http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7972015432&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 > I also found this: < http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66476&item=7971895559&rd=1 > Further investigation found this. < http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7972026959&fromMakeTrack=true > (Looks like someone's spare to me.)

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I can, pick me. I remember mailordering my first replacement set for my 79 Mustang. $68 each. I thought I was gonna die. Those first tires were ordered when my pretty little red 79 Mustang hatchback had 10K miles on it!!!!! Another of Ford's better ideas.

Although, back in 79, there wasn't anything in my neck of the woods that could run away from me on a nice, twisty road.

I'll definitely post after I get them installed and test 'em out. Right now, I am jsut happy to get four of SOMETHING bought and on the way.

I am driving on eggshells right now, hoping I don't drive over anything sharp. The rears are so bad, If I stomp on it from a stop, I get mucho spinno and the rear slowly drifts sideways. No smoke, no squeal, just spins. I didn't realize how bad they were getting until I got down on the ground with my reading glasses and looked at them closely. I have read many good comments about the KDW2s on this site and others, and very few bad comments. Even ricer kidz like them on their little toy cars. I do wish there were more options available for us, though. I could do with some that were a little less high-performance and therefore a little less expensive. Too much city traffic here, and highways too crowded to open her up much.

Enough whining. I'll stop now.

What about buying tires from your Mercury store? Too expensive?

FLM is advertising a tire promotion that says they will beat all competitors prices until December 31, 2005. http://www.genuineflmservice.com/default.asp?page=Kj
