Well God knows I love the Marauder and thought I would never afford
one but wow this car is a handful. I Bought it w/ 7,000 miles in Sep. 04'it was a buy back due to 3 tranny problems that could not be fixed at the original dealer. I bought it and the tranny has been great (knock on wood) BUT... 9,000 miles Thermostat goes, 11,500 miles the alternator goes alongw/ wiring harness, and yesterday 14,000 miles it started to over heat after a
2 mile ride....3 tows so far! It was at the dealer and not overheating of course but they told me "it was throwing a couple different codes, so a Tec. is bringing it home" Great now they beat the hell out of it... Man I am F******* pissed
..........Im sorry to say Id like a New one now :alone:

I feel for you...
Did you know it was a buy back before you bought it or did you find out after the fact?
If I was told it was a problem car I would go the other way, no matter what the sales rep tried to tell me.
If you found out after the fact, I'm sorry to hear it and heres what you do...trade it or sale it once its 'fixed' and get another 03 or 04. Get another while the gettings good.

Granted your "upset" I would be also.
Now what you need to do is start a "paper" trail. Write down everything that goes wrong, mileage, date, problem. how it got fixed, who fixed it, cost out of your pocket.
I would go online with the Massachusetts Conusmer Dept. and look into lemon laws in your state.

Thanks for the advice guys, In MA. Three consecutive problems for example
the thermostat goes three time's under warranty the car is a "lemon" Right now its been 3 different problems.... Most likely scenario is I drive it into a grassy field and shoot it<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com />
<P style=

No, it does not.

Sounds like the Silver Birch 04 I had. At 5500 miles I had the overheating problem. Went to the dealer several times but no fix. Sold it back to the dealer. I just bought a DTR 04 with 19k. So far so good I must say. Stay not wild about the color though :(

If your state is the same as Il.
Lemon law applies to the origional owner 12/12000, that is how the dealer got the car (Arbitration). If the dealer sold you the car without disclosing this, you may have recourse. It sounds like they did.
Good luck getting these issues resolved.

Agree with BigDog. Start keeping paper. Once upon a time I had another brand of vehicle that spent more than sixty days in the shop during the eighteen months I owned it. Loved the car (options, color, quickness, etc.), but hated it because I never got to drive it long enough to enjoy it. Eventually had enough paper to force the manufacturer to do something (gave us a new one, no money changed hands). Paper trail, my man...keep one.

this particular car to me "99% of our RAV cars have relativly trouble free lives"

One very IMPORTANT piece of information you need to verify is if the state Lemon Law applies to USED VEHICLES !!!
In New York State, it only applies to vehicles purchased NEW,
with the identical problem appearing 3 times within a 12 month period.

Sorry to hear of your problems.
I have a great dealer at Walls Lincoln/Mercury in Methuen, MA. I have been going there since I bought the car. Even though I bought the car from an Indianna dealer.

I am alive and well and living in Reading (still)!
I have been on this site about once every week or two.
Business has been kind of slow and, as president, its my leadership that is being tested. So I have to rise to the occasion, but that means less money to spend on more mods (so that I can catch up to Mac).
I'm running in place for the rest of the year unfortunately. More work and less fun.
Thank you for asking.

Some of the strongest relationships are developed, despite a difficult situation.
Just get to the owner and tell him your tale.
He may even suprise you with his response. :high5:
Good luck, tell us how it turns out!

Well got her Back Friday, I held off going to the owner of the dealer.
They did not give me the paper work "we will mail it when its complete."
I poped the hood they replaced the fan, shrowd, and wireing harness
that connects to the shrowd/fan (odd?). Im hoping this will be my last ordeal.
Its been a week since I drove her and I must say damn it feels good; shes still a welcome member of my family. Until next time happy Marauder-ing to all .

I kinda had a issue with my 03. I bought it used with 15,600 miles on it, ran good, drove good, but made funny sounds and just did'nt feel right. It's hard to explain the (didnt feel right), just a feeling something was waiting to happen and a kinda stiff ride. I checked and no mods to the car.
I found out that 04 was the last year for the MM and said WTF.
Traded in the 03 for the same money I paid, I only put 2000 miles on it, bought an 04. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The 04 felt like a Limo in comparson to the 03, it handled and drove 100% better.
The only good thing I got from the 03 was that the dealer let me trade the donut(04) for the full size spare(03) so I have a full size spare in the 04. Don't think the price of the spare was worth it thou. Taxed twice for two cars in 3 months.:(
Hope you have no more issues with your MM.
