Hey folks, just wanted to ask some questions (opinions actually) about my thoughts on scoring another MM. This one is black and has 6000 miles. A bit steep on the price, but within the price guides on the internet bluebook.

http://used-cars.autos.yahoo.com/usedcars/detail/index.html?cid=automobiles-181680873#imgpop

I have spoken with the dealer and he tells me it was a trade in by an older man who wanted to get a truck due to his arthritis...whatever...but it does only have about 6K miles and the black would be an awesome addtion to my silver one. (that and I can spread the miles over both!!)

Anyways, what you folks think?

Curt

Looks nice. The interior contrast is pretty cool.
Buy it. http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif

Mine "came in off lease early from an eighty year old couple" . Apparently only old folks buy these cars. I don't know if these stories are true, or just standard salesman BS job.

It was the story that I got.
Old man. Had a backbrace strapped to the seat. Car was too much for him.

I believe them though. There were two funeral visit cards for two different people.

Who knows... maybe it was only old folks... maybe that's why only 11,000 were sold. The whole marketing/confused/uneducated deal.

Well, I spoke some more to the dealer. Turns out there is the 6cd changer and a moon roof that was not in the ad. also, the OASIS report show more work on it than I have done to mine but it is all cosmetic stuff (THANKS RoyLPita!!!).

I am gearing up for it, trying to convince my sister to come look at it today. If there is anyone here on the board who is close to Glendale....I would really like a MM fanatic look at it for me rather than my mini-van driving sister (though she does own and drive a harley so I'll listen to her)

Any takers???

thanks, curt

Salesman said that mine was owned by a little old lady from Passadena.
Now is that an original line or what? ;)

 Nice addition to the family. Agree that it might be a little high on the price side, but all in all a nice addition. Mine was also owned by an older couple who traded it because it was too much car for the old guy. His loss..my gain!

Hey guys,

I am also on the fence about buying a local DTR-MM, car has 14 thousand miles, one owner trade (on a new GTO?)................the dealer is asking 25,900.

The car has no issues that I know of, ran a carfax............

It's in very nice condition, like new.

I am considering making an offer of 22,500.00. Would you guys consider this a good deal for this 04'??

thanks for any input!!

Welcome aboard, Mike.

I can run a OASIS report on your future(?) purchase. Let me know.

hah, hah.

I got the "too much power for the older gentleman, so he traded it in" story too.

By the responses here, that must be taught in used MM Sales 101.

Anybody get the email for the new Dodge Charger SRT8?

Looks incredible.

In a few years, hopefully I can get the same story with one of those.

Well I guess I have fallen off into the deep end. I got the loan approved today and will be collecting my black 04 MM soon enough!!

What am I going to do with both? I guess I will have to follow my heart and make one a real monster...just need a few more months to get started on one of the supercharger kits. Other than that, I guess I will be needing another spot to park my car in!!

I was crossing my fingers for that Trilogy raffle ticket to pay off, but at least I will have an easier time when (if the ship is in port) I go to the motor city for our "little" get together.

Thanks guys for the constructive comments and help!!

Hmm, maybe my eyes are bigger than my stomach...

Just thinking things through a bit, what do you guys think.
I will have the second MM soon enough but I have the opportunity to roll a substantial amount of money on upgrades for one of the two into the loan for the car. At 4.9% for 60 months, I can roll nearly 6K into the loan and only bump my monthly payment about 100-150 a month up from the purchase price of the car.

That is sooooooooo tempting. As it is now, I will be underway basically until august and I have a speed shop all set up in phoenix to do the work. Hmm...

Here is the hair-brained idea I have:
Purchase the car and have it delivered directly to the speed shop and have the following done:
Kooks headers-complete set from Reinhart.
TCE front and rear brake kits
QA1 shocks all around

(I wanna get the whoa before the GO so the S/C will be last)

Ideas or comments?

The other idea is to get the S/C only and deal with the other things later. I am leaning towards the Trilogy set up, but I dont need any comments on which one is better...there are tooooooo many threads with the S/C wars.

thanks, curt

Well, I guess the best laid plans.....

I just love dealers that I have never dealt with. I spoke on the phone with the guy on saturday night. Emailed him on sunday to confirm. He did not reply back until monday night and his message????

(and I quote)
"This to inform you that the Mercury has been sold as of last night. I apologize that we could not hold the car for you. Hopefully you will find another one real soon."

So what happened???? What ever, I know it is a business and all but DANG IT!!! And the best(worst) part is this guy knew I was serious when I sent my sister there to drive it and gave me this long line about how he knew I was Navy and stuck on a ship at sea and how he appreciated it and would do anything to help me. Hmm. I know that he had and offer come in and took it, but I was so excited.

Anyways, I am calling on the collective. I need your help folks.
I am serious about a black 04 loaded. Lower milage is preferable, and one that has been driven by an assimilated MM.net member is a plus. Price can be negotiated.
I am in the south west (san diego ca/yuma az) area, but for this car I am willing to travel a bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks, curt

Sorry about the loss:(

A better one will show up:cool:

I still think the dealer was fulll of :bs: I have artheritis and the only car I've had that came close in comfort IMHO was my "71" Olds 98 LS 4 dr. with the 454
and yes I had artheritis even then, just not quite as bad as now.

BTW, It would be smoking to have a day car(Silver) and a night stalker(Black).

:) Idea (some are'nt so great)

Find a car, order Triolgy, drive to Dream Cruse, Have S/C installed at Lidio's,
First ride? where else WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE:cool4:

Anyway, good luck on your search
