I called Jerry and he said that I should just get regular spark plugs (nothing 'colder'), and gap them for a stock marauder.

Yet, I'm reading through the forum to find which spark plugs I should get when I install my kit, and I find people saying that when you install the kit you should go not only go with colder spark plugs, but gap them to .32 instead of the .52/.56.

Then I also hear the same person say that I should listen to what Jerry says and only do what he recommends.

I'm a litte lost...:shake:

Jerry Barnes, since I'll be getting a Trilogy S/C'er

Jerry Barnes, since I'll be getting a Trilogy S/C'erWell then, if you read something in a thread about tuning the Marauder, that may have been the other Jerry?

Now you have me confused also. Because my Trilogy installation manual right on page #4 says to use Motorcraft plugs model #AWSF-22C (which is an old # that can be cross referenced by your local Ford dealer's parts department) and it states elswhere in the manual to gap them to .032". below is page #4 from the manual....and BTW, those are the same sparkplugs that I've been using for the last 17,000 miles that I've put on my car since I installed the Trilogy S/Cer kit.

...maybe Lidio has found after some experimentation that with the Trilogy set-up it doesn't make a world of difference what plugs are used, nor what the gap is at (with the exception of extremes ofcourse). I'm going to send Jerry an e-mail with a link to this thread, and hopefully in a few days, he will weigh in on this topic. :)

Yea, really odd. That's on the same sheet I have in my manual too. Hmm. Maybe I'll give Jerry a call this Monday and resolve this issue. Anyeone care the results? I can post...

If you get an answer, then I'd be interested to hear it. So please post it in here. Okay?

I'm interested, too...the "recommended" plugs cost me $42 at the dealer, and were a special order...

Maybe it's time for you to start getting your parts at another dealer. For what it's worth, I get mine at a Ford dealer (not a Mercury dealer) but I don't know if that's the reason for the vast price difference.

Bob's dealer probably heard of his good fortune:D

What??? The plugs cost me $22 at my dealer. Got the invoice right in front of me:
8 AGSF*22C*F6 plugs...List $6.20, my cost $5.27 from the Ford dealer that did my axle TSB and my Road Force balance...

The AWSF-22's are only one heat range colder then stock MM plugs. Their really not needed for a basic Trilogy install, but the stock or replacement plugs definitely need to be gapped no greater then .032 to .035 or they will usually miss fire under heavy load at high RPM.

What we usually do is if it has under 10K on the odo we simply regap the stock ones. If it has over 10K miles on it or its for sure getting a 3.2" pulley or a little some thing extra with the Trilogy, then we go out of our way to use a plug thats one heat range colder then stock.

F6 means there's only 6 plugs in the box. How did you end up with 8 for $5.27 total?

I hate to say it, but unless they are platinum plugs, dealer cost on those plugs is about $2.65 each. Now, its been a year since I worked in parts, but I can't see them going up that much.

Well Guys,

You have it straight from Yoda (I think that's how you spell Yoda?). So get your hands off your light sword, and gap and install those plugs! It happens that the plug part numbers change from time to time, but I thought lidio said a long time ago that he used stock plugs with stock gap. But, he has now given us an update on his experience. I will update the Installation Manual to reflect Lidio's comments and recommendations.

Thanks for the questions!

Talk to you soon.

Jerry

O.K. Folks,

I just spoke to Renata and she will clarify the wording in the installation manual and send everyone an update.

Thanks again!

Jerry

Thanks Jerry! I do not want to do anything that would compromise the fine work you all have done with the kit. So thanks for the update! :)
