I looked at my rear SS tailpipes yesterday. They are coated on the inside to the outer edge with a soot-like coating. I've never seen this before. It reminds me a little of a too-rich condition you used to see with carbureted cars years ago. Ive got 5600 miles on my Marauder and everything seems to starrt and run fine. My gas mileage is 15-16 MPG city/22 MPG highway. Should I schedule a trip to my dealer? I'd appreciate anyone's help.
Thanks!
Jim

I'm curious too.
I've noticed the same thing on mine ever since I had it. I just wipe it off everytime I'm cleaning the car.

There are 2 things that will tell you wether you should be worrried about it:
Is your gas mileage normal and within what you are used to ?
Check your spark plugs, are they a healthy tan color with little or no deposits on the threads ?
If the answer is yes, you don't have anything to worry about.

I never had any soot in the tailpipes whatsoever until just recently, after the Trilogy installation...it's very minor, but more than before...I'm gonna have Lidio install the bung for a wideband O2 sensor and check the A/F while we're out there next week...

Soot on the tale pipes is completely normal. The owner of my car before never cleaned the tips off, so some of it wont come off :(

I get a little around the ends of tips. As previously mentioned I just give them a little attention every time it's washed and it should prevent any long term blemishes on the pipes.
