View Full Version : Rear view mirror night light?

I don't know exactly what to call the light so night light is what I am calling it. Anyway, I have a friend with a Audi A4 and I had a BMW Z4 for a short time and they both have this suttle red light shining down from the rear view mirror. It was neat as you couldnt see the light itself, just the light it cast down on the center console area. With tinted windows it would be nice to have just a bit of light inside at night.
Anyone know of a aftermarket conversion for this? I recon I could go grab a mirror off a totaled Z4...

The '04 Marauders have green lights like this built into the overhead console. We had some troubles retrofitting this to my '03 though.

Green lights? Where? Do you have a pic? Sounds good.
Plus I'd like to get rid of the glare from the overhead console white light.

My father's Honda Accord has a small LED in his overhead console that shines down on the shifting area - looks really cool. I was planning on doing the same in my Marauder since I have 6LEDS just laying around... :)

On an '04 the green LEDs are mounted behind little slits that are forward and inisde of the map light buttons.

That's a moonroof overhead console. Don't MMs without a factory "ejector seat exit portal" have a different overhead layout? I know my 03 doesn't look like that. :o

Sorry, forgot to mention that. '03's had the longer overhead console (moonroof wasn't an option). '04's had a shorter console because the moonroof was an option.

Well, at least you didn't have problems with the lights themselfs.

It's all about which technicians handle which tasks, eh? :D

Yup, sounds right. If anyone wants the instructions to make the console back lit they are on here somewhere, I hope, just do a search for upper console.

I just went out and looked at my 04 and my overhead console is different from the one in the photo; no little green lights.

I must be missing this, my 04 didn't come with it.

The only '04's that have the little lights from the factory are the ones with the moon roof. All the rest have a totally different set up on the overhead console.
