View Full Version : Those of you with Ford extended Warranty's:
What package did you go with, extra care or premium care? What length of contract did you get? I'm trying to get a handle on common ages and mileages that things break and incorporate that into my decision of how long to get the warranty period for. I'm going to purchase this week. If you have any information that I need to know, please post. Thanks

went with premium care, 7 yr 75k MILES. $O. Deductable.(If I take it to the dealer I purchased it from) Bought it from the dealer at purchase. If you plan on doing a mod such as S/C, be prepared to have claims denied, or at least a fight on your hands with any problems with the engine or tranny. Just my .02

I have 6yrs/100,000 miles and $100 deductible. I drive about 18-19K per year so I figured my needs that way. Only cost me about $1000.00

Tailor your choice to your driving history (unless you know better)
Do not to Pay for more than you will use.duhtroll will run out of miles, before the five years. The good news he can change that with just a phone call.:P
Get the lowest deductible, because the first incident will usually break you even for the difference in costs.FYI you can extend your origional Ford Factory warranty if the vehicle has at least one month or 1000 mi. remaining on either;origional or Extended.Once the car reaches 100K all bets are off;)

If you have a deductible, and the repair is safty restraint or emissions related, you are not responsible to pay this!(must be under stated time/mileage)

I purchased my extended warranty through my GEICO INS.
The GEICO Agent explained to me that when I purchase a NEW vehicle, I have 11 months from the date of purchase to buy the extended service from GEICO.
Its not "Bumper To Bumper" but it covers a lot. Motor, Tranny, Drivetrain, A/C, Timing, Waterpump, Alternator etc. It cost me only 48.50 every 6 months, that's less than 100.00 per year with a 250.00 DED. I don't know of any other Ins. Co. doing this, but if anyone here has GEICO and don't know, now you know.
oooops, forgot, it's 7 yrs 100,- miles

My '95 Mustang had 5/75 PremiumCare. The plan covers 500+ components. Even high tech equipment like the subwoofer amp and speaker.

I ALWAYS purchase extended warranty of some kind. A/C gets a heckuva workout here in FL - some of it's parts always crap out if yu keep a car more than a couple years. Used to have a 97 Crown Vic that went through several window regulators, several window motors in addition to the A/C croaking in the middle of the summer. On the Marauder, we bought a 6 year, 75000 mile premium Ford ESP. I have had third party plans before, had to be without a vehicle extra time due to waiting on response from the warranty vendor. Now I only go with Ford plans on Ford cars.

I hope you never have to fight them for a claim...
FYI,
Went with the premium care, 6 years 60,000 miles. I paid extra for $0 deductible, and first day rental. I don't put that many miles on, 60,000 should be fine. Heck, it won't even start until December (in-service date). I've got to get it in before then for small issues. Total was $1165.

I got a 4 year, 100K from the dealer at purchase. It wasn't the Ford plan, but I've had no trouble (had a head replaced, radio, and all the antenna and booster equipment done.) It started out as a 5 year, 75K warranty, but knowing my driving habits and average yearly mileage, I was able to trade years for miles to better suit my needs. It also cost a little less that way.
