I've figured out how to adjust the wiper arms, at least on my 03. I just did it now and it took only 20mins (mostly took time to figure it out). Let me tell you it's not as easy as pulling them off, even though essentially that's all you do.
If you're looking at the front of the car, or from the top down at the the wiper arms, on the back side (side closest to windshield) there's a small finger/lip/clip that comes from under the assembly and reaches about to form that finger or clip or nub (whatever you want to say). Pull this clip away from the assembly perpendicularly.
While keeping tension on that nub, start to pry the entire arm off the splined nub (yes it's splined under there). It's going to take a great deal of effort, but make sure that you're pulling hard and that the nub has constant pressure on it to keep it away from the arm assembly. (That nub curves under the assembly and is connected to a flat peice of metal that sits UNDER the splined nub to keep the whole arm assembly from coming up)
Once you're getting the whole assembly to come up you may need to be forcefull and rock the entire thing back and forth and angle it as you're taking off; because of the metal clip.
When you finally get it off you'll realize how it all works. And to my suprise, there is NO key. There APPEARS to be a key, but they're both going inward, so the "key" everyone thougt was there doesn't have any apparant purpose.
I'm sorry I didn't have a camera available, or else I would've posted how-to pics. Sorry! :(
Note, when prying the nub or metal finger away from the asseembly, make sure you do not pry it too far or damage it. You should only pry it about 1/16 at most away from the assembly. Also, the metal nub and attached flat metal peice may bend downwards as you remove the peice - this is not a problem.
