Center Console

Last night I was looking through the rear window forward and noticed for the first time that the center console is far closer to the drivers seat than the passengers. In fact, there is almost a 1.5" gap between the console and the passenger side seat.

I wonder if this is simply because the drivers seat has been sat in more and has "spread out" more on the back? It is very noticeable from the back seat, with the console being butted up tight to the drivers seat, but with a large gap on the other side.

I don't see how they could have installed it differently, but thought I would run it by you guys to see if you have noticed something similar in your cars.

Same thing in mine, but I always thought it was because of the sittin' time...

Same here - I get a few squeeks from the leather rubbing on the plastc console. I always wondered about this - odd.
