Funny incident I wanted to relate: I was driving down to Riverside last week (near LA), and almost there stopped off the highway at a Starbucks. It was hard to find a place in the lot, and then I noticed that 2 guys in these nice Plymouth Prowlers had parked sideways across several parking spaces, and still had one car staggered in front of the other. The cars had orange metallic paint that looked custom, and leather hood bras, etc., etc., Between the two of them they were hogging up all or part of FIVE parking spaces parking crossways.
I drove around until finally a space next to one of them freed up and pulled in. As soon as I did one of the guys gets up from his chair outside and comes charging over to make sure I don't get my junky MM too close to his car.
Even with the driver's side door all the way open, there was still a full 3 feet between the cars, and I told him jokingly that he didn't have to worry about my car. He wasn't laughing though, and told me, "Well, you would be worried if you had this too. You know, they only made 12,000 of these!"
This was too good! I said, "Yeah, I know what you mean, they only made TEN thousand of these _limited edition_ Mercury Marauders!" (OK, maybe "limited edition" is a slight exaggeration, but my numbers were right anyway! :) )and then walked into the coffee shop. The expression on his face was priceless.
I saw him checking out the back of the car and looking in at the dash, but he and his buddy ignored me when I came out. As soon as I pulled out a woman in a Toyota pulled in, and here he comes again! Geez, get a life...
Anyway, this was one time that having a not too common car was worth every penny I paid for it!
